Program Details
We do ~25 hours a week, depending on you experience in the area we're looking for. Usually we do at least 2 day off and we try to give you a few days heads up about the schedule - generally we do it on Friday for the following week - and we are flexible if you let us know before-hand of any open times you need. We check in with you pretty regularly to make sure you have everything you need and you're enjoying the tasks you're doing - we're still struggling from everything that happened with the pandemic, so we need folks who can work independently but keep the balance of communication to be on the same page. We're a low key hostel and currently focusing on adding more activities in the hostel, but chill ones.
Activities & Shift
When you arrive, you'll have a meeting with our volunteer coordinator to go over expectations, questions/doubts; you'll also build out the "plan" for your stay. These are all things you would have discussed with us by video chat (if possible) before-hand. You'll set up, serve, and clean up the breakfast 4-5 times a week, from ~ 7:15am-10:15am. You also will help 1-2 times a week to set up, serve, and clean up the bar (it's very chill and the main purpose is to create a positive and fun environment). In the afternoon or a bit after breakfast, you'll spend the rest of the time helping with cleaning tasks or bringing up the laundry 4 stairs. We're looking for someone who loves chatting but is also able to manage their time (and be responsible with the use and consumption of alcohol during the bar). You'll also probably help gather guests for tours or activities.
Rules
We have pretty standard rules, though unfortunately right now we are a bit strict on visitors of guests, staff, or volunteers (it's due to a security consideration). You can't drink or use substances in an obvious way in the hostel nor if it affects that way you work. We will not tolerate any form of hate speech, nor any type of disrespect towards anyone else in the hostel -- especially towards our staff or volunteers. Ask us for more details and other rules!
