I couldnt have imagined a better experience. Dinesh, the owner, is super helpful and always here when you need something. The work is flexible, your main task is really just help around the hostel, reception, some cleanings or doing laundry etc. I was even able to change shifts to go on a little trip and come back. The staff is lovely and welcomes you like family. I need to say in Colombo is not much to do but the people are worth it staying there and with the train you can reach every city from there. A big thankyou to Dinesh, he runs a super social & kind hostel!! I'm sure I'll be back!

The team is great, they are nice people to share with. You can meet more travelers and do activities with them, is a great place to start a trip in Sri Lanka. The owner Dinesh, goes every other day and try to give you a really detail explanation about places to visit, history, geography, so you feel oriented. The hostel is comfortable, clean, big, with a pool and rooftop to enjoy wich is very nice because is hot during the day. I had to finished my experience before the plan because an external factor wich didn't have to be with the volunteer. I was very sad to leave.

Its a very nice hostel with very nice people. It was a pleasure to be part of them for a bit i did mostly gardening so i was very happy with it..... also the fact that the place is close to the beach is a fabulous plus to it all. I wish all the best to the staff and hope to meet you again next time.

An overall good experience to end my time in Sri Lanka. Firstly I covered the morning shift then the evening shift for the remainder of the time. Owner & staff are friendly & accommodating. It was a social place with a community vibe & I loved contributing to that. Great sunsets at the beach nearby.

CBH was a lovely experience through and through! Did feel a bit lost at first, because it didn't seem like they had much use for me, despite me coming in with experience, proactivity and a genuine hope to be helpful. Learned that it was mainly island vibe, helping around and relaxing is the best way to describe the position. Colombo itself imo doesn't deserve a stay of two weeks, but the hostel makes it worth it. You'll end up meeting the coolest people, connecting with the team (Dhushyanthy, Rotni, Dinesh are all brilliant and so so kind!) & having enough time to yourself ;)

The team was really nice! One of the highlights was the free family dinner every night, which was a great way to connect with fellow travelers. However, if you're looking to explore Sri Lanka, this might not be the best base, as there isn't much to do in Colombo. There is a nice beach just a five-minute walk away, but beyond that, activities are limited. I originally planned to stay for two weeks but decided to shorten my stay to one week, as it started to feel repetitive. The work was easy—I only had to clean for about an hour a day. I'm very grateful to Dinesh, Dush, and the entire team!

Dinesh and the staff are really kind and friendly! It was my first experience in the voluntary around the world and it was great! I immediately established good relationships with the staff and the guests of the hostel, every day spent together was fun! Sri Lanka is amazing and the hostel of Dinesh it's near the beach, so you can enjoy beautiful sunset! The work in the hostel is really easy and the hour is flexible! So, I want to recommend to everyone this experience, because you can immerse into the local cuisine and culture, knowing local people and you can discover this beautiful land!

I spent three wonderful weeks at the CBH. the place is close to the beach and is well connected to Colombo's city center by public transport. While the area is not too touristy, you will definitely enjoy your stay if you like to chill, meet fellow travelers and want to learn about Sri Lanka from the locals. i came a bit off season, so my main task was interacting with the guests (we had dinners together, made city trips, played board games) and occasionaly helping cooking (which helped me to learn a lot about the local cuisine). Thank you Dinesh and the whole CBH team for everything!
