Take care of rescue dogs on beautiful Koh Chang island!

This is a very difficult review. Under different circumstances this could be a really great experience. Unfortunately I came at the worst possible time. The owner of the shelter had just decided to merge the shelter with another, and did this without properly communicating with the locals, who are upset and have gone to local government. It is chaotic and a bad situation. This was the decision of the owner of the shelter, but the general management is actually (currently) handled by Worldpackers volunteers, which is not ideal. This place currently has serious issues and I can't recommend it.

Hi Steven, I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy your time at Happy Dogs. Unfortunately there were some growing pains as some of our dogs from our Sanctuary shelter relocated temporarily to the Safe House, however we can confirm all the dogs are now used to their new routine and everything is much more peaceful here. And the Sanctuary dogs will be moving out of their temporary accommodation soon into their brand new shelter so the peaceful times will continue.

I've had the best time so I fully intend to come back again. I enjoyed it so much I didn't even get around to seeing the whole Island which is beautiful in itself. the organization is all gorgeous I'll miss them all and the spirit of this place genuinely uplifting. I recommend this place to everyone.

This place really changed my life, I loved the 2 months and 20 days I stayed in the Safe house shelter, I will miss a lot the organization but I am sure I will be back soon. For volunteers that may want to go to this shelter, keep in mind this is a place you will be dealing with rescued the organization, so it's very different from your pets at home. Sometimes you will have to work extra, sometimes I had 1 day off per week other times I had 2 days off per week, it depends on the amount of volunteers they have at the moment. I recommend this place to people that truly love animals and want to help them.

I don't have enough words to express how amazing is this place and the doggies. I felt at home since the very beginning. Amelia is the perfect volunteer leader and trainer, making so easy to learn everything you have to do and getting closer to the doggies hearts. All the volunteers there were incredible people and it was an amazing experience working as a team with all of them. This is the perfect place to get in touch with nature, animals and yourself. I enjoyed so much my time at the organization and I'll be back for sure. This place and this the organization have stolen my heart.

I have not enough words to explain how amazing is this place. the organization is extremely cute and lovely. Amelia is the best volunteer leader you could ever have. So nice and always explaining a lot of things about the doggies. She loves them so much and she treats them in an amazing way. All the volunteers are so nice, the environment cannot be better! I felt at home since the beginning. It's the perfect place to enjoy time with amazing the organization and humans. Also to have time to relax and explore the island. I'm so in love with all the organization. I'll be back for sure in a couple of months ❤️🐶

Volunteering at the organization has been one of the best experiences of my life. I think I would have to write an essay to describe how much I loved it. Caring for 14 the organization truly becomes caring for your own doggies, so if you love the organization like me, you are in it for the love. I have fallen in love with these the organization, that thinking about leaving them brought tears to my eyes and still does. You get to live with like-minded people that love the organization and nature as much as you do! And you get to disconnect from the city life while doing something extremely rewarding.

Una de mis mejores experiencias, hubieron momentos difíciles pero si tienes una mente positiva podrás identificar que eso solo te va ayudar a tu crecimiento personal, pude conectar con los perros y aprender mucho acerca de ellos y su lenguaje corporal e incluso comportamientos, lo recomiendo si eres una persona dedicada 100% a los animales y estás dispuesto a brindar tu tiempo y tu paciencia, recuerda que el principal objetivo por el que tu vas a estar ahí es por los animales.
