The experience

At Finca Plato Indio we promote environmental education and strive to contribute with ecological regeneration practices. Be part of our daily life and learn about aspects of living on a family farm where the goal is to co-create sustainable systems.

Projects on the farm are constantly changing, ranging from simple jobs to more complex jobs. Discipline, communication and respect are our ethics.


What you offer

5 hours of help per day

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 15 Per day

Fee pays for: Materials for volunteer activities

Description: Volunteers contribute $15 per day to cover expenses of food and maintenance.


What you get

1 day off per week

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Yoga classes: Take free yoga classes at our place.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely


Requirements

Intermediate Spanish or Intermediate English

Between 18 and 35 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa


Program Details

The projects change according to the needs of the space. However, there are jobs that are routine during the week, for example: maintenance of green areas, roads and sidewalks, feeding animals, compost maintenance, hydrating plants. We will also be carrying out more complex projects such as: erosion control, land preparation for planting, construction, among others.


Activities & Shift

1) Help in the cooking of breakfast and lunch.
2) Assist volunteer leaders in any way possible: Farming, Community projects, Workshops, Tours and Camping.
Wake up time is 6:30-7am to start cooking breakfast and then start the work day. The health of those of us who work is of utmost importance, therefore, we recommend eating nutritious food, honoring rest, protecting yourself from the sun, maintaining good hygiene and staying hydrated.


Rules


Decriminalization based on race, physical appearance, sexual identity, religion, age, physical condition, political ideas, ability, etc. is not allowed.

Clear, transparent and effective communication must be maintained. If you feel any discomfort or have any needs, please notify us.

The volume of your voice should be moderate so as not to disturb the peace of others.

In the event of any type of unacceptable and inappropriate behavior by a roommate, the other occupant of the room must report the facts to the people responsible for the home.

Volunteers are responsible for keeping their rooms and common areas of the studio appropriately clean and tidy.

Volunteers are responsible for washing their sheets and pillowcases. Please bring your own pillow.
