The experience

Be part of this project at a friendly veterinary hospital in the capital of Ghana, Accra. As a volunteer, you will assist the vet hospital with a range of work including learning about veterinary care, animal rescue, treatment, surgery, diagnostics and preventative medicine.

What you offer

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 30 Per day

Fee pays for: Materials for volunteer activities and Donation to project

Description: Volunteers contribute USD $ 30 per day. This covers their full board accommodation and meals, drinking water, towels, picking up and dropping on arrival and departure from Kotoka International Airport, Shower and Western Toilet, Certificate and recommendation letter at the end of the program.

Program Details

As a volunteer with our animal care project in Ghana, you will assist a trained veterinarian, he and a team of experienced vets and nurses covering all species, from pets to farm animals. This projects is open to everyone, including volunteers without any prior experience. It is well set up for vet and nurse students to participate in veterinary training, and for pre vet students to increase their hours of work experience.




Activities & Shift

Those in clinical years of vet school will assist with surgery however but this is not a surgery training course, so you should not expect your days to be solely based around surgery. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the project, including medicine, animal rescue and inpatient care. The vets assist the government by managing notifiable and infectious disease.
