The experience

We are an NGO, promoting Environmental Protection projects around Iceland.

We are looking for a highly organized and self-starter participant to help us maintain the housekeeping chores along with other participants.

You will be leading the household tasks, and helping with logistics. We want a participant who can help us on our path to becoming a Sustainable Center!
Note: Minimum stay of 12 weeks!


What you offer

30 hours of help per week

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.


What you get

2 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Fluent English

Between 25 and 35 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Travel insurance

Program Details

We will provide Accommodation and food in exchange for your time and organizational skills. We will provide a good balanced diet, please note we encourage a vegetarian diet!

We welcome international participants coming to Iceland to learn about environmental protection and we require help with some tasks.

Location
We have many locations around Iceland. You will be based at "The Farm" (Outskirts of Reykjavík). We do ask for you to be flexible and adaptable!

*Driving excursions
*Welcoming of participants
*Grocery shopping
*Pick up & Drop offs (driver's license is essential)

Activities & Shift

Household:

Your main tasks will be to take care of the facilities;
-Cleaning and reporting any safety hazards to the manager in charge.
-Rooms: making sure they are ready to welcome participants; clean linen and vacuum
-Common areas: keep the areas neat and tidy
-Laundry: All those sheets and towels need to be cleaned somehow! help with the household laundry; sheets, towels, rags, mops, etc.
-Linen room: After the sheets and towels have been washed and dried, organize them in the linen room and distribute them in the house when needed
-Complete cleaning of Toilets & showers
-Complete general tasks like vacuuming, sweeping, emptying trash cans, dusting shelves, cleaning windows, mopping floors, etc.

Logistics:

-Welcoming new participants
-Pick up & Drop off of participants
-Grocery Shopping
-Visit to Recycling Center

No smoking or E-cigarettes inside the Accommodation
No use of non-prescription drugs
No parties
Responsible consumption of alcohol
