- tending the small garden (mowing, planting, harvesting...) and animal care (7 hens)

Program Details

We are a small ecovillage started in 2020, most houses are finished (8 families living on site) but there is still some building going on for the 4 remaining houses. We are a young community willing to share our experience and life in our beautiful place. The volunteering program has started last summer, so we’re beginners in hosting volunteers 😉 we will ask you to be flexible and understanding, we will learn as much as you do !

The only accommodation we can offer is a campsite in the garden to set up your tent (you need to bring your own camping equipment, we do NOT provide it), and shared bathroom and kitchen. We can welcome 1 to 2 volunteers at the same time, so you need to have an autonomous temper and not be afraid to be on your own at some time.

Activities & Shift

- the hostel activity (welcoming guests, cleaning up the rooms after their departure) (primary task so speaking French, even if only intermediate, is compulsory)

According to need :
- tending the (small) garden (mowing, planting, harvesting...) and animal care (7 hens)
- basic handiwork (painting, building composting toilets or bicycle shelter...)

The hostel activity is where we need the most help so it will be the priority, but there is only two rooms, so days without arrivals or departures will be centered around the garden or the handiwork.

Rules

Days with hostel activity (arrivals or departures) we will need your help at specific times, that can vary from one day to another. We will try to arrange a weekly schedule so that you can fully enjoy your spare time (lots of it considering we ask you to help 2 to 3 hours a day ;) ).

Please note that the ecovillage is 10km away from La Rochelle (main place of interest) and the ocean. If you don't own a car, you will have to rely on the public bus (approx. 1 per hour) or rent a bike.
