It was my first volunteering experience and it could have not been even more perfect. The facilities are very nice and the team was friendly. The volunteers had a separate room with lockers to put their stuff in. The tasks were clear and fairly simple, the manager would provide a weekly schedule with your shifts. I absolutely loved the pizza, margaritas and burgers nights. I would recommend to know at least some spanish before coming here since it has been a bit difficult for me to work at the reception without knowing the language. Overall, I really recommend this experience to everyone!

I had never volunteered at a hostel before. After this experience, I will 100% do it again. They were welcoming, respectful, and made it clear at the beginning that if I felt uncomfortable or had suggestions for improvement, I could come to them and they would respond. In addition, we were given opportunities to offer thoughts as some changes were made during my stay. (Sorry, no car for Picos de Europa anymore, but they are willing to help with car rentals if you really want to go!!) I had a blast practicing Spanish and learning to surf and highly recommend taking advantage of this experience.

It was a great experience. All the employees were amazing. A special hug to Ezequiel and Luca for to be so nice. The hostel is very beautiful and very organized. The beaches around are awesome. I spent a good time there and I recommend.

It was my first Worldpackers experience and I recommend it. The hostel is very organized, both for guests and volunteers. The volunteers have their own bed and space to store their things in the volunteer's bedroom and also their own space in the kitchen to store their food. The hostel is very clean. The staff is very nice and we can really see how much effort the manager puts on to offer free activities for the volunteers: trip to Picos de Europa, Yoga, surf, pizza night, bbq night. GSH definately has a good vibe!

GSH what a place! I had the best month volunteering here doing reception and cleaning. The sleeping arrangement is good with your own bed and space to store your things. The team is great! I met and worked with people from all over the world learning about the different cultures and cooking together. Gijón is a nice city, not very big but enough going on that you won't be bored! Would recommend for all to try!

I had an absolutely incredible time, and would recommend the place for anyone looking for a social community to become a part of. The work is easy and straightforward, and everything is very well organised. I always felt welcomed and at home. Thanks you for every single person I met, all the volunteers and staff are 10/10!

I loved my time at GSH. I've met the most amazing people and truly made friends for life! The feel of the hostel as soon as you step through the door is like being at home, I would have stayed forever if I could! The work is fair and simple, it's such a good deal for what is offered to volunteers. We could take surfboards, bikes, and skateboards whenever we wanted, join in free yoga sessions, and the pizza every Tuesday was amazing too! The manager makes effort to take on suggestions on how to improve the hostel and you really feel looked after! The best hostel and the best people!

This was my first volunteer experience and I cannot be more happy about my choice. Staff, surf lessons, food , bed ,all is perfect ,everybody is very friendly and if you need something ,just ask. Tasks are simple and you work as it says. I had a lot of laugh, good spent time and you have a big city to explore . I would definitely recommend GSH . I love it.

This Volunteering was the best so far. You really get all the perks they're telling you : surf classes, equipment, bikes just for us, breakfast, etc. The room for the volunteer is really nice, you have space to store your things. Felt like living at home for a month, I really recommand it. Everything's well organised, I would definitely recommend this place.

The hostel is like a second family, if you want to spend some good time learning about different cultures, learning to surf and more, this is the perfect place to go. The staff and volunteers are super nice and welcoming.
