The experience

As a volunteer with Beyond Borders, you’ll help teach English to local children from 1st to 6th grade in an inclusive school that welcomes students with diverse abilities and backgrounds. You’ll assist with lesson planning, reinforce key topics, and support creative learning activities. This experience is a chance to inspire confidence, share knowledge, and make a lasting impact on every child you teach.


What you offer

6 hours of help per day

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.


What you get

2 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.

Discounts on Accommodation: Get discounts for your stay in other hostels.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.


Requirements

Fluent English or Intermediate Spanish

Between 18 and 40 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

In Guatemala, many families face poverty and limited opportunities for stable work. Beyond Borders is our new initiative, created to empower local communities through education, entrepreneurship, and holistic well-being. We’re introducing new ways of learning and growth—mindfulness, philosophy, and holistic living—and seek positive, caring volunteers to help families improve their quality of life and build a more hopeful future together.


Activities & Shift

As a volunteer with Beyond Borders, you’ll support a local school by assisting teachers and engaging children in creative and educational activities. Shifts are 5 hours per day, mornings only, giving you time to connect deeply with the students while enjoying your afternoons free. You’ll work alongside a local coordinator who will guide and support you throughout your experience, ensuring a meaningful and impactful volunteer journey


Rules

All volunteers must commit to
Respect and accept our child protection policy.
Respect and accept our confidentiality agreement (will be sent).
Be punctual, Be reliable, Be responsible.
Notify us if your availability changes or if you are leaving the organization.
Handle grievances in the proper manner. Participate in training courses as requested. Ask for help when you need it. Support other team members
HOUSE RULES
Excessive alcohol consumption is not allowed in the house. No guests are allowed in the house without consent. No drugs or weapons are allowed in the house. You will receive a set of keys to the front door and the sleeping area; if you lose your keys, you will be responsible for the cost of making new copies. Failure to comply with any of these rules will result in termination of your program.
