The experience

We are a small independent hostel in the stunning Loch Ness region of the Scottish Highlands. We have 39 beds, a great bar with over 30 Scottish beers, and a really friendly atmosphere. We LOVE having volunteers come and work with us, and being part of our hostel family for a few weeks or months, and our online reviews demonstrate just how important the team is to our reputation. They all seem to love being here too, so we're thrilled!

Program Details

In this instance we're looking for someone to do housekeeping and check-ins for the month of September only. You will give us 30 hours of your time per week, helping with changeovers, manning reception and also helping guests however they need it.
We will have four volunteers working alongside us during September.
In your free time you’ll be able to enjoy the scenery, atmosphere and culture in one the world’s most iconic locations. Plus the hostel itself is a chilled, friendly place to hang out, with really lovely guests to get to know as well.

Activities & Shift

1. cleaning and housekeeping
2. reception duties, and answering guest queries
3. possibly working the bar, but as this is a short stay that won’t be a priority
4. property upkeep (e.g. staining garden furniture, weeding, updating the staff board and local information, etc.).

In their time off we encourage the team to get out and about, to go and explore the stunning Highlands and really make the most of their time here. September is a gorgeous time of year to be in the Highlands. But this is their home, so if they choose just to chill with a book that's also fine.

Rules

Volunteers are only asked to remember that by committing to come and be part of our team, we are relying on you to turn up, to give us your best self, and to help us to give our guests a really positive experience. If you're a negative person, or if you don't want to work hard to be part of something great, then this isn't the right place for you.
