I had a wonderful month at Hub Hostel. Christine is an incredible host, always available and friendly. The work is easy and fair and always in a good mood. It's a fascinating place to enjoy Scottish nature, with many breathtaking beaches and culture. It's the ideal place if you want to experience peaceful moments, almost out of time.

My first Worldpackers experience and what an absolute magnificent one! Christine and her family are some of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met. The work was easy, without any pressure and I also learned a lot. The accomodation was so nice and cozy and I also loved the bed in the treehouse. You'll meet loads of lovely people. Everybody, including locals and Hostel guests, is very open and welcoming to an extent that is not too common in most other parts of the world, but definitely should be. Even after just a few weeks I felt like leaving a newly won family.

Christine and her family are lovely and immediately made me feel welcomed, the work is very simple and you get lots of opportunities to socialize with guests from all over the world! The accommodation is cozy and well equipped, and the island is beautiful! I've made so many cherished memories and life long friends in Stornoway. Working at the hostel felt like joining a big family, thank you Christine for everything 🩷 Can't wait to come back someday

My experience at the hostel was amazing! Christine is super nice, organized and was always looking out for us. The work was a few hours of cleaning and some reception shifts. It was really easy and fun, especially meeting all the guests. Being on the Outer Hebrides was super interesting. You have to know that it is an island, so it's not big and the busses don't go often - but if you like exploring the stunning nature and all the beautiful beaches, this experience is for you. Also, Christine and her family organised activities for us. I learned so much about local culture and had a lot of fun!

Christine really cares for the Hostel and ensures that everyone there has the best experience they possibly can. The working hours and the work are as stated on the Worldpackers Homepage, with some extra tasks. You have a lot of free time and really learn to love the place over your stay. You will have a lot of guests from all over the world, oftentimes visiting the hostel regularly. There are quiet places, but you are there with multiple volunteers and a often crowded hostel, so you won't have a lot of time alone. I personally really loved the place, extended my stay and would come again

Volunteering at the hostel was a great experience! Christine was very clear about the tasks up front and respectful of the hours agreed upon. She and her family are so nice and even drove us to some different sights and beaches! It is a beautiful area!

It was a wonderful experience Christine and her family make you feel at home. I really enjoyed the time I spent working with the other volunteers and of course with Crishtine who is always on the lookout for what we need. One of my dreams was to see Scotland and I think it was perfect to go to the Isle of Lewis and Harris, it has wonderful scenery, just like a film! Stornoway is a beautiful and peaceful place with welcoming people.

I absolutely looved the hostel!! Cristine is such a loving Manager and also her parents are really sweet and comforting. I honestly haven't felt like I worked there, it was more like beeing part of the family in which you just naturally help with the housekeeping and general tasks in the hostel. I had the impression that the volunteers and their safety and well-beeing were always Christine's first priority, which I really apreciate! To me, Stornoway is such a cute wee city. I often just wanted to take a walk and ended up on a three hour hike. So HIGHLY recommended! Fab experience<3

There are not enough stars available to rate this experience with what it truly deserves - I have found a second home within Scotland. Couldn't have asked for a more wholesome environment and family to come work with and for, it was well beyond any expectations I had for my first hostel volunteering experience and would come back in a heartbeat ❤️
