I had a great time in the hostel but it was mostly because of the other staff members . Because we had many volunteers some of them had to live in an apartman (like me) and only 4 volnteers could live in the hostel. The apartman is not bad but inconvinent because you have to walk 15 minutes to eat, work, cook, etc. When I moved to the hostel I liked the living situation better. Overall loved the hostel, Graziella is great, felt like she is a mother of the hostel. Also the hostel was nice, but mostly he was not at the hostel. Also the other volunteers made a hostel like a big family

My time at the hostel was wonderful! The work was fairly easy and although there is no permanent training manager, we all help each other. In August, peak season, there were plenty of fun volunteers and guests although they do accept travelling school groups. I was in the apartment and loved the space - close to the good supermarket too. I really enjoyed speaking Italian with Graziella and I would recommend being able to speak (or at least understand) Italian if you work here - it will make for easier communication. Grazie mille per tutto Graziella and the hostel, spero che ci vediamo presto 🤗

I had an amazing time at the hostel! The work was not too difficult and laid back most of the time. You spend a lot of time in the common area with the other volunteers and guests; it was very social while I was there during the peak period. Graziella and the hostel really do their best but sometimes communication was lacking due to the language barrier. I was put in an apartment a 15 minute walk away from the hostel, which for me wasn't bad for me. Overall, the other people really made this stay amazing for me. Thank you!!

My experience wasn't that great, I have good moments there but only because the others volunteers. The surroundings of the hostel is good, with one bus you're in Taormina or other places. In my opinion the dynamic of work and the owner are disorganized. They try do the best, but volunteer there is very stressful, looks like a real job but don't worth! I stay in a apartment 15 minutos walk from the hostel and you need go to de hostel for everything, walking in Sicily in 40 degrees wasn't a pleasure experience. Otherwise the breakfast is poor, isn't a real meal.

The hostel and Grazie are so nice but they live off site. This means that when people ring the doorbell in the middle of the night or need help when you aren't working you are still responsible to help as there is no one else there. Also, I was there three weeks so should have had two days off. I only ended up with two days off because they counted my travel day as a day off. Finally, it can get very lonely. Despite being told that there would be other volunteers, I was the only one. The hostel itself is very nice and cozy and the beach town is also nice. Thank you the hostel for welcoming me!

Hello Grace and thank you for your help!
Other volunteers were supposed to work at the hostel with you but eventually they cancelled their stay and you can imagine that it is difficult to find a substitute in a short span of time.

I had a great time at the hostel, the tasks were easy, only had to do the check-ins and keeping the common areas clean. The hostel is super well located, at walking distance of everything, beach, food, bus station.. Also the owners were welcoming and so kind. Sicily is beautiful and this volunteering is a great way to explore it, I totally recommend it!

Overall I had a really good experience at the hostel. This was my first time working in a hostel and after a week I felt I understood how a hostel functions. But this came from a lot of 'learning on the job'. There is no training provided which can lead to disagreements with the hosts if communication isn't clear and respectful. I never had issues with this but other volunteers were often unhappy with the way they were spoken to, including being scolded in front of guests. Despite all this I had no big issues here, I learned a lot and had a great time speaking Italian with Graziella.

Hello Brian and thanks for your review.
Your help at the hostel was fundamental to go through the season.
Unfortunately, this was a very complicated season for us due to personal problems as well, and we thank you for being comprehensive. We thank you for your feedback and we will make sure your suggestions will be heard and put in place. It was very nice meeting you and we hope to see you soon!

The hostel the owner means well. But he put me up in an apt 20 minutes from the hostel with no hot water or wifi, and refused to let me stay at the hostel even tho no one told me that would be the case. He is very inflexible and doesn't train the volunteers yet gets mad at them when they don't do things he never said to do. It's very empty not too many guests and disorganised. That being said he means well and is a lovely man. It's not in Taormina very far from “life”. If you don't care it's a lovely place to go and go beaching for a while but that got boring for me so I left.

I worked here in June which is a bit out of season and therefore the hostel was very quite (not as crowded as in the pictures). But the work was just as I expected, very perfect for first time volunteers because you learn a lot about the hostel-culture and the tasks in the reception are easy. 5 hours of work 6 days per week where you have the opportunity to talk to the guests and relax. It's a great place to go if you like to enjoy the summer, be in the nature, have time alone and relax. Sicily is full of beautiful nature and the hostel is relaxing and a very friendly place.

I loved my experience at the hostel's House!! I actually extended my stay twice. His wife, Grazie, is this amazing, thoughtful woman who would by me ice cream and sweets! The work is chilled. I've worked in 4 other hostels and the structure of this hostel is definitely good! The breakfast is rich! The hostel is really well located, the bus stop to taormina and catania is seconds from the hostel. Giardini is this cute, small town with a gorgeous beach with a view to the vulcano etna! The hostel is less than 10min walk to the beach. I highly recommend! :)
