Volunteers, preferably with dog shelter experience or working with dogs, are required throughout the year. Other true and committed dog lovers, who are willing to go the extra mile for the dogs, are very welcome to apply also.
Volunteers are especially required to start from 23rd August onwards and throughout the year. There is availability for one volunteer prior to 23rd August. Monica is unable to take care of the many adult dogs (all are non-aggressive) at the shelter due to her risk of falling which could be very serious for her health and brittle bones.
So far, Monica has received volunteers from all across the world including the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North & South America and Canada. Volunteers from other countries NOT requiring a Romanian visa are welcome to apply too.
Activities & Shift
DAILY ROUTINE
Volunteer tasks begin between 8:00 am and 8:30 with feeding the chickens, ducks and puppies. After that, all the runs have to be cleaned and all the dogs have to be provided with fresh water and food.
Everything around the house is also cleaned and all water bowls are provided with clean water. The chicken and duck coops are cleaned once a week;
It depends on how many volunteers there are, but usually, this work is done between 10.30 and 11.30 am. Then it's time for a free afternoon. At about 5 o'clock the chickens, ducks and puppies have to be fed and cleaned again. If there are sick animals, it takes a little more time and sometimes the vet also needs help.
Of course, any animal that sits there would like some extra attention, but that's up to you!
Rules
Volunteers have a whole house available. There are 4 bedrooms, bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen. These areas need to be kept clean and tidy at all times. The kitchen and hall tiled floors need to be mopped daily. Monica naturally wants her things to be handled with care. In addition, no animals from the shelter are allowed to enter the main house. Monica also does not want smoking in the house.
