English Teaching Volunteer

I first arrived slightly worried as I was there for 3 weeks thinking it would be too long to endure. Turns out that 3 weeks wasn't long enough. I can't recommend this experience enough, it felt as though I should be paying. The children at the school are very attentive and are very funny, it's impossible to tell them off. I've never taught before but there's an assistant teacher there to help you out and the teachers which I was with were fantastic, kind and supportive. The host is this beautiful family and they truly go above and beyond to ensure your stay is more than satisfactory.

This was my first volunteering experience and it was amazing! The people were very lovely and you live at the school in a classroom turned into a bedroom which was a cool experience (you teach at a different school). I wasn't expecting to fully teach and come up with my own syllabus, but it was a unique opportunity and experience that I enjoyed and learned a lot from. You are at school from 8-4 but have lots of breaks in between. I was lucky to have another volunteer there at the same time. Due to unforeseen personal events at home I had to leave early, but I am grateful for this opportunity.

I had an opportunity to volunteer in this school, it was sooo goood. Amazing experience. Students 7-15 years old and teaching monday to friday (weekend off). The kids were incredible, especially smaller one, they paid attention to everything and the classes were great!!! The school staff was also amazing. Helping all the time with everyting, always with smile! Thankss for a chance to volunteer here!

This is my fifth and best Worldpackers experience!! The family running the school are amazing people who took great care of me and made me feel at home. The students at the school are so energetic and kind, it breaks my heart having to say goodbye. You have full control over the class which at first is overwhelming but after a few YouTube videos on how to teach ESL it's fine. There wasn't much to do in Poipet but that didn't matter because I enjoyed the teaching so much. I recommend volunteering with a friend to have some company. I really want to come back and would highly recommend!!

-The hosts are very friendly and make sure you get everything you need. I got sick and they took care of me buying medicines by their own and giving me healthy food. -The kids are enchanting and smart. -The city is not really interesting but you can experience local culture (don't expect to find English speakers) -It's an immersive experience and you need to be responsible to really work, if you're looking for a free place to sleep while you travel that's not for you. -I missed a didatic sequence to follow. I have a teaching experience so I managed that. But I was happy and fulfilled.

I had a great experience teaching English at school, the hosts are very nice, always making sure you're comfortable while taking care of. The kids were lovely and eager to learn , this is a nice experience if you're looking to immerse yourself in the local culture, the schedule is a bit demanding you need to be at the school from 8am to 5pm and you only teach 3-4 hours with breaks in between .. Also there's no many things to do in Poipet so it could be a little bit boring after classes .. Overall , it was a nice experience

The experience was ok. I was the only volunteer for two weeks and I felt very lonely. The children at school were lovely and so were the teachers. However, my biggest challenge was that I wasn't given any plan on what to teach or what to do. The classes normally start at 9.15 till 10, then 10.15 to 11, 1pm to 2pm and 3.15 to 4.30pm, but you are required to be at school at 8am and you will leave around 5, so the whole day will be busy with this schedule. There is absolutely nothing to do or visit in the city. I was expecting a totally different experience.

The experience at school was wonderful. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I felt welcomed and supported. Everyone treated me very well. The children are very respectful and open to the teaching proposals I made. It was only for a short time but I managed to connect with everyone and I will miss it. I strongly recommend it!

I stayed here for a month and I can't stress enough how accommodating and welcoming it was. I don't eat seafood and after I informed the staff on day 2,I never had to deal with seafood again. Generally the lessons are 9.15-11am with a 15 min break, 1-2pm then 3.15-4.30pm. The accommodation is within a the school campus and depending on the number of volunteers, it can be shared or solo. The majority of the teaching takes place in a separate campus which you are transported between with no cost. I cannot recommend this the school enough! You have plenty of time to explore Cambodia on the weekends too!
