What you offer

16 hours of help per week

Content Writer: Write, edit and publish inspiring content.

Web Developer: Help develop and maintain websites.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Get free drinks or beverages.: Drink up! Get free and tasty drinks for yourself.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Holistic Therapies: You can take part in any of our therapeutic activities for free.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Intermediate English or Intermediate French

Between 24 and 69 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers


What's not included

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa


Program Details

We need volunteers to strengthen and speed up the achievement of these goals. In particular, we are interested in hearing from potential volunteers with the following skillset:
(1) Project managers
(2) Programmers or coding enthusiasts to help take our website to the next level
(3) Logistics experts to support the Mobile Caravan event and beyond
(4) Clinical psychologists or psychiatrists (especially those willing to come and provide consultation on the ground in Cameroon)


Activities & Shift

Our most pressing goals and projects are as follows:
- A scholarship program for people with mental illness to take part in professional classes such as agricultural development, giving them the ability to work.
- A holiday donation drive to distribute basic necessities such as clothing and hygiene products to the mentally ill.
- Raising awareness about mental health amongst Cameroonians, especially in rural zones.
- Fighting stigma and isolation, suffered by many mentally-ill Cameroonians.
- Raise awareness among families of the patient by explaining how to live with mentally ill people, talk about their rights (many women are abused and treated like they are not human. Some are separated from their children and can't see them again) as well as about their contribution to the improvement of the illness.
