Hello Wild and Urban the hostel! As you may know, it was my first time volunteering and i couldn't have chosen a better place. At first I can say I learnt a lot of new things, working here gave me opportunity to be a better adult haha. Other than that, I met a lot of nice people from all over the world, and I for sure can say I have friends around continents now. As for the city, Bratislava is really different from the cities I've visited before, it has a nice old town, but it was the hostel that really made my experience the coolest. I hope one day I can come back! Thank you for everything!

Volunteering at Wild the hostel through Worldpackers was my first experience, and it took time to adjust. Every day was packed—not just with work but also social activities. Tasks/the way hostel works weren't always detailed so asking questions was key. I asked a lot and managers were always helpful. This experience is great for those ready to step out of their comfort zone since the social aspect is intense. Saw a couple of volunteers leave early as they couldn't adapt sadly. If you're open and adaptable, it's amazing! Huge thanks to managers Jamie and Mads for your constant support <3

We stayed in Urban for 3 weeks in November and we loved the whole experience. The fellow volunteers were amazing and we felt so welcomed, they explain everything to you. The tasks are exactly the same as described in the profile, for us it was more fun than work but sometimes it could be a bit exhausting because of multiple hangovers. The hostel is all about party and going out, so be aware of that. But if you love to party and meet a lot of amazing people this is the right place for you.

The hostel is social, central and full of parties. But volunteering is not ok: more than 25h, daily meetings even on days off, very little food, and 0 respect for boundaries (nude pics in work group). Safety is the worst: the hostel pushes a “hard party” atmosphere, but there's zero proper management of risks. Nobody sober in charge, no one trained, with multiple situations of alcohol poisoning, inappropriate behaviors, and injuries because people had consumed too much. This is seriously unsafe for guests and volunteers, and it felt like no one responsible was taking it seriously.

My overall experience was very good. It was my first volunteering with Worldpackers and I really enjoyed it. I stayed at Urban, a more relaxed hostel, but I joined Wild's parties almost every day and it worked out perfectly. The highlights were meeting people from all over the world, practicing English and making friends I plan to keep for life. Parties are free for volunteers, which is great if you like nightlife. On the negative side, the volunteers' dorm at Urban was dark, dirty and unhealthy, and meals were limited, with dinner being vegan and breakfast and lunch budgets often insufficient

The managers and the other volunteers were all very great always helping if you needed any suggestions and competent in what they were doing, understanding when making mistakes. The place was really good and all the guest fenomenal, sometimes working shifts may take longer but if you understand how to do things (everybody is always ready to explain if you have any doubt)you can manage to finish them on time. Accommodation for volunteers needs to improve

I volunteered at Urban Elephant Hostel. Working hours were rarely respected, often ending 30–60 minutes late. Only dinner is provided, prepared by volunteers; for breakfast and lunch the hostel gives €1 per volunteer per day, which is far from enough for proper meals. Accommodation was overcrowded, with 12 people in a small, dark room. Daily meetings at 6 pm were mandatory, and if you didn't attend you were given an extra task as a sort of punishment. Despite poor conditions and management, the volunteers I met were amazing and made the experience worthwhile.

I have mixed feelings about volunteering at Urban Elephant hostel. My feedback: (+) A great environment for partying and having fun with guests and other volunteers; Easy to apply to/ high chance if acceptance; Likeminded individuals: outgoing, party people, social volunteers. (-) The accommodations for Urban volunteers (not helpers) are very bad... It's a dark room, no windows, no air, little space; Working hours are longer than writen (extra shifts, longer shifts, daily activities); Only dinner is prepared (by volunteers), the other meals (breakfast, lunch) you have to prepare yourself.

Don't fall into the trap! Terrible volunteering They don't comply with anything agreed upon at Worldpackers You work overtime, you get virtually no food each day, mandatory meetings at 6 p.m. every day And very tough and strict assignments. Avoid coming 100%

Hey Martin we're sorry you didn't have the same experience all our other volunteers have had! Perhaps if you stayed as long as you had agreed instead of leaving after 3 days you would have had a much better time with us! We understand not everyone is social, and that socialising is such a big part of what we do; though we do try to make that obvious before people arrive. Hopefully you can find a more suitable role somewhere that requires the bare minimum levels of effort. Don't give up!
