What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Program Details

BOA VIDA TATTOO FARM is a small family Tattoo / Farm in the heart of Serra do Caldeirao / Algarve, with 20 hectares, we starting over again, the legacy left by our ancestors, looking forwards to implement farming principles based in Agroecology, Biodynamic Agriculture, Permaculture, Syntropic Agroforestry, Traditional Subsistence Farming and Food Sovereignty, in order to recover our lands ecosystems and build a community in its surroundings, democratic, inclusive, transparent, autonomous and resilient, dedicated, i one hand, to respect and improve the constant relationship with the natura
Breakfast is by yourself (food is provided). Lunch is together and diner, the rest of the time, you should supply yourselves with your own food, there is a small local market nearby and once a week we drive to São Bartolomeu de Messines. For sleeping there's plenty rooms, single and for couples with bunk beds for kids.


Activities & Shift

Apanha do Medronho / Strawberry three (Arbutus) harvest in *Serra do Caldeirão Algarve* from October to February. Daily help is 5 hours, 5 days week. After that you are free to do what you want.

Working the fields, harvesting medronho (strawberry three), alfarroba (carob), azeitona (olive), amêndoa (almond), vegetables, fruits, cork harvest, clearing land for crops, cutting bushes and trees manually or with mechanical methods, garden design
, planting trees, cutting wood, hand pruning trees, making essential oils etc.
Building basic infrastructures, road acesses, water infrastructures
, laying water pipes
, diverse construction works including, dry stone walls, rammed earth (Taipa) constructions, carpenter works, building and restoring roofs , mechanic works, cooking and everything that's needed to get done in the farm.


Rules

Daily work 5 hours, 5 days week. After that you are free to do what you want.
Breakfast is by yourself (food is provided). Lunch and diner together, the rest of the time, you should supply yourselves with your own food, there is a small local market nearby and once a week we drive to São Bartolomeu de Messines. For sleeping there's plenty rooms, single and for couples with bunk beds for kids. In the surroundings, there's one Budist Stupa, many hiking and biking trails, like, the Fonte da Benémola Trail and Rocha da Pena the largest climbing area in south Portugal. There, is wonderful areas for bird watching, mushroom picking, etc. Nearest beaches are 40 minutes drive. We want you to feel free to use your creativity and bring your own ideas into creation, craft-work, painting , sculpting, tattooing, building, creating gardens and embellishing the land.
