The experience

Family Home in Birkenhead, Auckland. Only a 15-minute bus ride into the city (and only a 5 minute walk to the bus stop and lots of shops).
We are 3 generations living under 1 roof. My partner Luke and I live downstairs with our 5 year old daughter and newborn son (born in October). His 84 year old Dad is very active and friendly.


What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Cooking: Choose the menu, pick ingredients and cook delicious dishes.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Intermediate English

Over 22 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)


What's not included

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa


Activities & Shift

We only consider female applicants, sorry.

Hours are roughly 3:30 - 7:30 Sunday - Thursday with Friday and Saturday off. Tasks include cooking dinner for yourself and Ross (who is a very active 84 years old), and also cleaning, laundry, dishes, changing beds etc as needed.


Rules

We expect a very high level of tidiness in shared living spaces (kitchen, bathroom, etc). We ask that you please treat it like a home rather than a hostel :)
