Ground keeper of shuttered glamping resort

My stay at the camping was more than I could ever hope it would be. I stayed during the month of February which was very nice because 1) the resort was not yet open and 2) I was the only volunteer. Right away I felt I was a part of the family and felt taken care of, and cared for. I was always made the most amazing breakfast and lunch, and allowed to help myself to whatever I wanted for dinner. Everyone was always very flexible with allowing me to choose what I wanted to do for the day whether it be childcare, cleaning, repair jobs, etc, and after I completed my 5 hours I free toexplore/relax

It has been a nice experience volunteering here, work hours as agreed & nice people. The place is quite remote, but close to the beach. Reception work was a little quiet due to the end of the season but still nice.

I had so much fun at the camping! Everyone was so welcoming and the jobs were easy and fun. Working the morning shift was great because then I had the rest of the day off to swim, go to the beach, and explore more of the island. I felt like I was holiday while working here and I got to meet some really cool people! Would recommend this place if you are looking for something more calm, slow paced, and want to experience nature.

I enjoyed my time at the camping. I felt welcomed by Alexi and his family, and there were a lot of other volunteers who I got to meet as well, all from different countries! The working hours were as agreed upon, and I learned a lot from working in the receptionist position. The location of the camping, while a bit out of the way, is near the ocean and the island is beautiful. The tents we lived in are in need of repair, they were ripped and we had a problem with rats while I was there. Lunch was table scraps from customers, which I didn't expect. However, overall it was a positive experience.

Hi Caitlyn, it was such a pleasure to have you stay with us, and we really appreciate your contribution and feedback to our team! Regarding the tents, we repair them every season for all our volunteers, and generally hope that everyone will look after them throughout to avoid damage, however this sometimes doesn't happen. We appreciate you mentioning this as we are always trying to do better, a learn how best to look after our volunteers, and will do our best to give more attention to these issues next season. This leads on to the issue of the rat, which i know Maddy killed and caught! We have learnt by having such a large volume of volunteers this year, that we need to make sure that there is a more collective responsibility to keep areas clean, and not so inviting for things like rats, as you are not protected by 4 walls. We hope that us as hosts and our volunteers will do a better job at maintaining the communal aeras to avoid something like this happening again. Regarding the food, I would like to make clear that the majority of food offered for lunch was not table scraps, but cheese, meats and salads. Often we would also provide un used pre prepared breakfast platters left over from breakfast. Any other food that was left out on the table for you guys to eat was left there by other volunteers working in the kitchen and not by us. We feel we did our best to accommodated any volunteer that had any issues, dis like to certain food or dietary requirement. Thankyou for your honest feedback, and sending out well wishes to you.

I enjoyed this work experience so much, Alexi and his family are bloody legends and were so welcoming. They had extremely reasonable expectations with the tasks that we were given around the campsite, and were extremely helpful when I had any questions or was unsure about what I should do. The food that Louisa and Maddie cooked for us was always amazing too which is lovely bonus :D Thankyou for having me guys!

The work after the season is physical but a lot of fun and most days the 4.5 hours flew. We were given a lot of freedom and I never felt bad asking for help if something went wrong. Lunch was delicious every day and while the area is very quite in the off season we usually found something to do in the afternoon or evening. On days off we had the chance to go on day trips with the other volunteers which were a lot of fun. I loved spending time with the family listening to some mad stories and sharing laughs. Anyone with a sense of humour will love it here! Thank you to Maddie and her family!

Absolutely stupendous time. Great location and great hosts. I heard a number of great stories from Alexi and George and had the privilege to meet some of the local characters. The work is very liberating, you are given a job with the trust that you'll get it done without anyone looking over your shoulder. Once the work is over you have the freedom to do whatever you want in the local area. I loved to run around the abandoned buildings and bunkers in the area. Kind and Interesting people in a beautiful beach and mountain side area. You can't go wrong.

I had a great time on the camping property! I got a very warm welcome by Alexi and his family and felt like a part of the group from day one. The life together was very relaxed and casual, I could decide by myself how much I want to be part of social gatherings without feeling pressure to participate in everything. Work was very hands-on and sometimes a little improvised, working hours were respected. Breakfast and lunch was provided, always freshly cooked and very delicious. The island itself is very quiet in off-season, great for a relaxed time. Thank you for the very nice experience!

Thank you to you both for being here with us, Thank you Diego for the exotic meals you provided for all as well as helping in the kitchen with the main menu. Jelena, bless you for your balanced and comitted presence at work. It was great to have an adult couple as part of our team instead of the typical gap year students. Hope you having a great time with the new venture , please keep in touch. George

I had a wonderful time at the camping! Maddie and Alexi were great hosts and lovely people. They regularly checked in with me about how my experience was going and genuinely cared about the wellbeing and experiences of all of the volunteers. Work hours were reasonable and the work itself was enjoyable. I worked the breakfast shift which was a really nice way to start the day and also gain customer service experience. I met lots of wonderful people and saw some amazing sunsets and night skies that will stay with me for a long time. I recommend this Worldpackers experience!
