The experience
In both Strand Fjordhotel and the Hardanger Basecamp, there is ongoing renovating and repairing of rooms, yurts and public areas. The following skills and crafts are involved: carpentry, laying floor & wall tiles, ceilings, electricity, painting. We would prefer a handyman who feels at home in most of these disciplines and has some years of experience. There is always someone from our team in charge to instruct, brief, or teach.
What you offer
32 hours of help per week
Painting & Decorating:
Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.
Building & Repairing:
Help with a wide range of repairs or building.
What you get
2 days off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Lunch:
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
Dinner:
You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
Discounts on Tours:
Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.
Free Laundry:
You can use our laundry room freely.

Intermediate English or Intermediate Dutch
Between 21 and 60 years old
Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details
Are you a skilled handyman looking for an exciting opportunity? Join us at both our hotel and the Hardanger Basecamp, where ongoing renovations and repairs are happening in rooms, yurts, and public areas.
This role involves various skills and crafts such as carpentry, floor and wall tiling, electrical work, and painting. We are seeking a versatile handyman or woman comfortable with most of these disciplines and possessing some experience.

Activities & Shift
We ask our volunteers to help us out for 5 days a week, 6 hours a day. Our volunteers have to flexible about changes in the schedule. Day shifts and free days may change according to need and how busy we are.
Rules
After you have contacted us, we will ask you to fill in our application forms and have some video meetings to get to know each other. After we both agreed, we can discuss your tasks -we always take your skills and whishes into consideration-, and before you come to us we should have expressed our mutual expectations so there will be no surprises during your stay with us.
We prefer non smokers, no alcohol abuse and absolutely no drug-use. We are not allowed to offer positions to non EU members, so if you have not a European nationality, we cannot accept you.
You will be asked to agree and sign our house rules and Company policies. These will be offered after we have approved your application.
