Program Details
The Misión México Foundation (MMF) aims to break cycles of poverty, abuse and inequality; providing opportunities for every child and youth that we care for to succeed. Through long-term solutions like education, practical and emotional care and community development, we provide tools and opportunities for children and youth to advance in every aspect of their lives.
For the past 20+ years, we have been welcoming volunteers year-round from around the world to help our team lead activities and games and generally help maintain house rules, routines, and actively supervise the children and youth in our care.
This year, we are launching our new Enrichment Program, which will take place during school holidays (Christmas, Easter, and Summer) during which time Specialist Volunteers can come for shorter stays to share their skills and talents with our kids!
Activities & Shift
We are looking for volunteers to share with and teach our kids courses and workshops in the following areas: cooking/baking, gardening, yoga, dance, sports, surfing, art, arts & crafts, etc.
It would be great if you have teaching, coaching, or other experience with youth, leading and facilitating activities and games with an emphasis on SEL and/or working with kids with trauma. These are not requirements, just background we're especially recruiting.
Please be conversational in English, basic Spanish would be great! Again, not a requirement for the volunteer role.
The application process for Specialist Volunteers will include a request for a proposal of your course/workshop so we can schedule your time accordingly.
Rules
During your volunteer stay, you will have a bedroom in the shared volunteers' flat on site. This is a separate and private space for volunteers only, with a shared living room, kitchenette, bathroom and balcony/rooftop. We have a maximum of 3-4 volunteers at any given time.
There is absolutely no tolerance for illegal drugs of any kind. As you will be working with children and youth and living on the premises, please understand your words and behavior are an example to the kids. A police background clearance is a required step of our application process, as well as two references.
