Program Details
Our school is a lively and engaging environment where students are eager to learn. You may be assigned to teach English, math, or science, but don't worry if your strengths are in other areas - your enthusiasm and ability to communicate effectively in English will benefit the students. In addition to academics, games and sports play a significant role in school life, so be prepared to participate in these activities.
You will receive guidance on the curriculum and have the option to shadow a teacher for the first few days. However, we also encourage you to bring your own ideas and actively participate in teaching. You have the opportunity to personalize the classroom with your own rules and decorations, which will enhance your teaching skills while providing support to students who need it most.
Activities & Shift
Volunteers are expected to commit to working at their placement five days a week. Each weekday morning will kick off with a communal breakfast at our house, followed by school starting at approximately 9:30 am. The mornings are dedicated to traditional school subjects, typically divided into hour-long classes. Around 12:30 pm, there will be a lunch break, during which you can join other volunteers at the Director's House. In the afternoons, you will attend additional classes, with opportunities for recreational activities such as games and sports, where your assistance in organizing is required.
Usually concluding around 5 pm, your responsibilities might extend as the children often enjoy your company. Following the placement hours, you can unwind with fellow volunteers and the Director's Children over dinner. Evenings frequently involve organized games and activities.
