Program Details

As a medical volunteer with us, you'll work in our local clinic located within a school serving over 200 children, addressing the pressing healthcare needs in our community. Given the high demand and limited resources, we are in need of additional support. In exchange for your valuable medical work, you will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges of working in a resource-constrained environment. To participate, you should have some medical experience, typically at least one year of a university-level medical program in medicine or nursing. We welcome both medical and nursing students, providing an opportunity to apply your skills while making a significant impact on those in need.

Activities & Shift

As a medical volunteer, you will begin by spending the first few days learning about common local diseases. Once you're comfortable, you'll have the chance to perform basic procedures under supervision. Your general responsibilities will include taking rounds, prescribing and distributing medications, dressing wounds, and assisting with record-keeping.You will typically work at your placement five days a week. Each weekday morning starts with breakfast with other volunteers at the volunteer house, followed by a 9:30 am arrival at the clinic. Mornings often begin with a consultation to discuss the day's needs, and you may assist with various tasks. Lunch break is at around 12:30 pm, and you can enjoy it with fellow volunteers.Your placement generally concludes around 3:00 pm each day.
