The experience

This volunteer program focuses on offering care to abandoned children with disabilities in Peru. With the help of our volunteers, we care for their health and emotional needs in a nurturing environment. For the kids, we are able to deliver development, inclusion and well-being. For the volunteers, a rewarding experience where they feel fulfilled for making a difference while immersing themselves in the unique Peruvian culture.


What you offer

5 hours of help per day

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 150 Per week

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: Expand Peru relies on the contributions made by volunteers to sustain its programs. Your financial support covers essential expenses, including the purchase of materials for workshops and activities, wages of dedicated staff like teachers and psychologists, and your accommodation. Additionally, these contributions fund the administrative and operational costs that guarantee the continuity of this program. Fees are $150/week or $500/month.

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Requirements

Beginner Spanish or Beginner English

Between 18 and 65 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

This program is dedicated to offering care and comprehensive attention to children with disabilities in the Peruvian Andes who have often been abandoned. Our focus is to ensure their development, inclusion and well-being through:

• Stimulation and learning: creating a secure and stimulating space where each kid can thrive through tailored activities, learning opportunities, and emotional support

Activities & Shift

You will work from 8:00 to 13:00, Monday to Friday. These are the types of activities our volunteers typically perform:

• Assist therapists (occupational, physical, speech) during therapy sessions
• Organize adapted recreational activities like games, crafts, and music
• Help with daily tasks such as feeding, hygiene, dressing, and mobility
• Collaborate in creating sensory environments to stimulate children’s senses
• Teach daily living skills (e.g., independent feeding, dressing)
• Facilitate group games that encourage social interaction and friendship
• Provide support and supervision during outings and excursions
