My stay at the lodge was lovely ! I had great time hiking around, hitch-hiking to Dingle but also taking runs around the peninsula which is just gorgeous (when the weather is good). I also enjoyed going to the free surf lessons, playing volley-ball in the backyard or exploring the islands with Duncan on the boat. Duncan is very cool and flexible concerning work hours. The lodge is a bit remote (from cities like Tralee or Dingle) but you can shop at Castlegreogry (about 5 km) and easily find someone (guests or Duncan) to give you a lift ! If you like the surf vibe this place is for you !

I loved my time volunteering here. The work tasks were simple, just a good bit of cleaning and housekeeping. Duncan and Leslie are amazing hosts, so kind and welcoming and fun to hang around. The people living in the lodge are amazing as well! Really friendly, open, and eager to include you in activities and exploring. The maharees are absolutely stunning. If you like nature, surfing/hiking, and want to learn to build your social skills, I highly recommend this place! I will miss it so much. 😌

This was such a wonderful place to live and work. I had the best time meeting new people who were both visiting and living at the lodge. Duncan is kind and fun and an absolutely awesome surf instructor! It took some adjusting time at first because it's a really close-knit group, but once I got settled I felt like such a part of it:) I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to be in a lowkey environment and spend time with great people.

I had a lot of fun. Everyone was super friendly and Duncan was an excellent host. I don't speak very fluent english and everyone was kind and patient. I also learned how to surf!! I highly recommend this experience.

Volunteering at the lodge is easy once you get the rhythm of the house. The working hours are fair and respected, you get many benefits such as surfing, water trampoline and other watersports. You can travel around the area and visit small towns (a must!) like Dingle, Killarney, Brandon. If you want to connect with nature, you're in the right place! You also get to experience what it is like living in a small community; bonfires, local parties, pubs and hanging out w/ the people at the lodge which can be real craic! I enjoyed connecting with locals and experiencing the Irish culture :))))

The experience in the Maharees was amazing, the place is a true paradise, highly recommended if you want to connect with the nature, the sea, and enjoy water sports. The work in low season is easy, and Duncan is very flexible with the schedules, so you have plenty of free time to enjoy this wonderful place. On the other hand, the people in the hostel make you feel like in a family from the first moment. Thanks a lot for everything!💛✨

The hostel quickly became my home away from home. Amidst stunning Irish landscapes, I found a welcoming community and contributed to this lovely hostel. Duncan, its heart and soul, is both a dedicated host and an inspiring surfer. His infectious passion for the lodge and surfing sets a laid-back vibe. Working at your own pace, supported by Duncan, made every moment wonderful, even during wild off-season wind and rain storms. the hostel is a must for an authentic Irish adventure amongst new friends.

I had a great month at the hostel with Duncan and everyone else staying/passing through. The work load was light due to the hostel being off-season but there were plenty of projects if you were motivated. While the location of the hostel was about an hours walk from the village, Duncan was always willing to give rides as needed. The hostel was large but warm and friendly and there was always something to do if you got out and about. Everyone I met there was good craic and the Maharees was so beautiful with its own kind of magic. Duncan was so kind as to loan me water gear and boards!

I stayed 5 weeks at the lodge and it was one of my best experiences ! Duncan is very kind, he always wants to be sure we are good and we enjoy our stay ! Tasks are easy to do and the lodge is very comfy, you feel at home very easily ! If you want to visit more you'll need a car but if you love nature and just want to enjoy watersports, the lodge is the perfect place ! People are all very kind, they love to share and help ! It wasn't easy to leave them ! I arrived at the end of october so it wasn't so hot to go to surf but it's definitely an amazing place to start or just to enjoy surfing !
