My experience here was absolutely incredible. You will have a great experience whether you practice Buddhism or not (certainly not necessary) because there are so many people who travel to & live here. The food, the surrounding scenery, the meditations/classes, the building and temple are absolutely beautiful. I have never felt as much love from an entire group as I felt here. I will say you typically work 9-5 although you have an hour for lunch and 3 20 min breaks throughout the day- the work is not hard and goes by quickly. Thank you to everyone for your flexibility, kindness and love 🥰

The community was more than a volunteer, it was life changing and deep in my heart! I went in one person and left another and I am forever grateful for that! For everything I've lived in this place and in this beautiful city with such friendly people! This is not just a place to trade room and food for work, please don't come just for these reasons. Here is a place to learn to meditate and delve into our introspective. Meditating and studying here is a good way to give the world all the good we get from the community. And I plan to come back again and again and be able to contribute more! Thank you!!

My experience at the community (Ulverston) was amazing! One of the best volunteering experiences I've had. You will live in a castle and socialize with people from all over the world, eating the best vegetarian food and learning about the community. The structure to welcome volunteers is fabulous and very professional!

The place is beautiful, and you'll have the opportunity to meet travellers from around the world, have fun and discover the surroundings. The work experience was pleasant at the art studio, and I loved sanding, filling and learning about the process. Everybody was friendly and smiling. If you are looking for happiness or a place to heal and fall in love with life, this is the right place. I cannot explain how blissful the community can be here; You'll have to try it yourself. I met amazing people, made new friends, and didn't want to leave. Thank you, everyone, for everything. Love you all!

Had an amazing time at the community. The community there is so welcoming and I met lots of great people, short term volunteers to the monks and nuns and residents who stay there year round. Besides the people the buildings and grounds with its forests and beach are remarkably beautiful, with the Lake District nearby and cozy town of Ulverston nearby for fun day trips. Working in the cafe was also a great experience, it can get quite busy on weekends but you learn lots and the hours are always respected. The manager Odro is very chill and helpful. Would highly recommend!

This was absolutely a great volunteer job. I really did love it. I met many nice people (fellow volunteers and residents). I worked in the art studio and I loved it. It is a lot of fine detail work; sanding and fixing scratches or holes in the statues. I normally just listen to music and do my work; it was really great to learn (and I would say it was pretty calm and relaxing). The hosts were very nice and the rooms were also really nice (and clean). I will say if your looking to party, this is not the place. It's very calm and quiet. The main town is an hour walk or 10 minute drive.
