I couldn't be more grateful for this experience! Pillapalu is a peaceful place where I learned about life, nature, and Estonian culture. The tasks were different and we had a lot of autonomy - a really good atmosphere! I met brilliant people, played with Cookie and Poppy, visited a bog, and went to an Estonian sauna! I'm already missing it! Robin, Birgit, Allory, Mark, Miabel, and Joseph - thank you for everything, and I hope to see you all again!

This was my first experience with the Worldpackers app and couldn't be better. Mr. Robin and his family were so friendly with me and the other volunteers. All morning we did a sync to align the jobs and the activities of the day. We were in 4 volunteers at all, and Mr robin left us free to divide the job as we felt more comfortable. Mr Robin is a very funny and pacient host and his wife, Mrs Birgit, so attentive and hospitable. He showed us so much about the culture and life in Estonia and we learned a lot about the lodge and natural environment.

This was my first time with Worldpackers and Robin and Birgit made me feel very welcome. I helped with making a promotional video for Robin, as well as helping with some general tasks such as raking leaves, chopping wood, cleaning, etc. There were 3 volunteers there at the time and we all got on very well and went for walks after we finished our tasks for the day. Robin also took us to the lake to swim and a bog which was a lot of fun. We also had a sauna and bbq night which was amazing! The place is absolutely beautiful, and I learned so much! Thank you Robin and Birgit

I had an amazing time in Pillapalu. Robin and Brigit really care about volunteers and try to make sure that they have the best experience there. I've felt in the right place since the first day. It's cool that there are tasks and jobs to do but you can also propose something. Amazing!

The Pillapalu experience was phenomenal. Robin is a fantastic host with a wide variety of tasks to be accomplished each day. There are no set hours and you are able to work on what you are best at. the lodge is an amazing place to connect with nature, and the sauna was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this opportunity for anybody who wants to learn more about the medicinal properties of different types of mushrooms, and wants to learn more about Estonian culture.

Birgit and Robin were thoughtful and fair hosts. They took a collaborative approach to establishing reasonable work expectations while providing flexibility for us to pursue our interests. I enjoyed the variety of our volunteer tasks which ranged from transporting logs to greenhouse work and painting. During our downtime, I got to know the host family (including two very sweet dogs), ate delicious homemade food and took in the surrounding the lodge and nearby lake. Overall, I had fun and insightful experience and would recommend Pillapalu to other volunteers!

Birgit and Robin are very generous and communicative hosts. The work is fair and expectations are set early on with an open discussion. My main project was compiling research on Chaga. I also helped fix the tomato greenhouse, move logs from the lodge, paint and da bit of packing and labeling. Our hosts taught us about Estonian culture and history and offered us local experiences, which were much appreciated. We visited a local art exhibition, swam in a nearby lake and had sauna together. I learned a lot during my short time at the lodge and the experiences will stay with me.

It was a wonderful experience! I had the opportunity to try new things such us chopping wood and using a chainsaw. The tasks were many: gardening, cooking and cleaning are just few of them. I enjoyed bike rides, swimming at the lake, exploring the lodge and spending time with the amazing volunteers I met. Working hours are flexible, rooms are comfortable. Sauna party was great, too. Birgit and Robin are a lovely couple and I will always cherish all the conversations we had. There's a lot to learn from them! In my opinion, self motivation and hard work are the key at the lodge.

I had an amazing experience at the lodge. It was a perfect opportunity to escape hectic life with a slower pace of living whilst being surrounded by nature. The hosts were great, Birgit and Robin are very welcoming. The food was incredible, you will never go hungry here. If you are interested in cooking you will have the opportunity to get involved. The hosts also took us to the lakes for a swim twice during the week I was there. My key task was painting. We had entire creative freedom which I loved. I was proud to be involved in the fairy door project! Thanks so much :)

This was such an amazing experience! As an artist you have a lot of freedom, you can choose what you want to paint and how, as long as it's related to nature. 🎨 It is an awesome place to meet new people, make some art and restore your peace of mind, surrounded by nature! Working hours are not strict, sometimes you have more or less free time depends on the day, but you can always discuss it with hosts. I would recommend this place to everyone who's especially looking for connection with nature and meeting new people, Robin and Brigit are very friendly and welcoming. 😊
