The experience

Throughout the year I am looking for 6 people per month to help me!
Requirement: EU citizen/EU working visa!!

My jobs are:

1) Being the Nightwatch

2) Helping in housekeeping

3) Cleaning dishes and stocking my café

4) Kitchen hand for the breakfast rush

5) Occasional maintenance tasks like painting or pulling weeds from the patio!


What you offer

29 hours of help per week

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Night Shift: Help with night shift tasks and create a relaxing environment for guests.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.


What you get

2 days off per week

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Restaurants: Get discounts at nearby restaurants.

Discounts on Drinks: Get discounts for drinks and beverages from our bar.

Discounts on Accommodation: Get discounts for your stay in other hostels.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Intermediate English

Between 20 and 40 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

European Union Passport

Haarlem's just a stone's throw from Amsterdam by train, and a breezy bike ride lands you in national parks and on sandy shores. Haarlem is known for its charming, historic, landmarks as it is the oldest city in the Netherlands.

Those who come to my place are encouraged to enjoy in cultural exchange - practice new languages, learn about different cultures, and open your mind to new experiences!

Fun fact: Many volunteers have become locals – join the crew!

Activities & Shift

1) Being the nightwatch: You are in charge of the hostel during the night, if people loose their card to enter, or the fire alarm goes off, or guests make to much noise you are the person to come into action. This is overnight from 21:00 until 8:00!

2) Cleaning rooms + hostel: My lovely housekeeping team can use your hand with making my 90 beds. Not 90 beds everyday of course :) I've got 21 unique rooms. All of theme in a different Dutch theme check out the website www.helloimlocal.com

3) Get ready for some cafe fun! You'll be lending a hand during breakfast, lunch, and events – it's all hands on deck! Join the Hello I'm Local team and dive into a variety of tasks. From whipping up coffees to tackling dishes, sprucing up tables, and even helping out our chef!

4) General hostel support can include things like running errands on my behalf in town, putting a fresh coat of paint on the wall, or pulling weeds from my patio - anything and everything I might need a hand with!
