Program Details
Our Finca has been operating for ten years as an alternative living community for travelers and locals who are searching for a more intentional way of living. We seek to be the antidote to the busy and disconnected lifestyle that society demands by living in connection with nature as well as the other people around us.
Activities & Shift
Life at the Finca is all about participation! While we don't have a specific schedule, community members do what needs to be done so we can all reap the benefits.
Each day there are basic chores that any adult human does--cleaning communal spaces, preparing meals, etc--that take some of our time. From there we dedicate ourselves to what we know and what needs to be done. Constant activities include harvesting/processing/consuming cacao, painting murals or communal spaces, preparing/planting/harvesting native crops, trail maintenance, building or repairing structures made of bamboo and wood, and in general finding ways to beautify and take care of the space around us.
Rules
At the Finca there is not allowed:
--Preparing or consuming meat or eggs
--Electricity, and therefore Wifi (don't worry, there is a cozy space a 10 min walk that has Wifi, couches, and outlets for charging, and volunteers can go there when they want)
--Alcohol or Drug use (Alcohol can be consumed at the same place where Wifi is)
--Smoking (again, smoking can happen in Wifi land)
--Bad intentions! If you're a Negative Nancy looking to bring others down, look elsewhere :)
