Program Details

🌿The Maara Project Experience Program is a practical experience in agroforestry, organic farming, and community life. Participants receive 3 days of training per week, usually from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with breaks. During this time, they help at the upcoming projects, such as:

- Implementation more agroforests with different objectives
- Build and plant a big fruit and vegetable garden
- Make grazing areas for animals on the farm
- Construct a proper composting system
- And many more!

⛰️ In your free time you can relax or do some hiking, explore some trails and waterfalls or visit the city of Nova Friburgo. On the farm we regularly organize game nights, cinema sessions or campfire.

As a volunteer within our volunteer program, you will stay in the newly renovated and very comfortable guest house. Each room is individual, or adapted for couple. The house includes one bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen with a beautiful dining area, a cozy living room and an outside terrace. A separate, newly opened room with private bathroom and kitchen can accommodate another couple or single volunteer.

🍋On working days we lunch all together and there are supplies to make your own breakfast, dinner and meals on weekends. Also, cleaning your own room as well as to participate in tidying up of the common areas of the guest house will be one of your responsibilities.

Your contribution also ensures the continuity of our main purpose: to educate, empower, and inspire. With training in agroecology, we make a point of sharing real knowledge, experienced on a daily basis, going far beyond labor—here, we cultivate people along with the land. 💚

Activities & Shift

Since we’ve arrived here in the beginning of 2020, we have implemented an agroforest, made a simple vegetable garden, built a green house and planted lots of trees. The main task was to rebuild two old farmhouses to suit our family, guests and volunteers.
Also, we opened an access road to further areas where we will make more agroforests, build a bio-constructed house and reforest parts of the land.

We invite people who want to learn, exchange experiences, and contribute to building a more sustainable world. Here, you will experience daily life on a beautiful agroecological farm, staying in a comfortable and modern house surrounded by mountains and stunning waterfalls.

It is an opportunity to slow down, get inspired, and live more consciously, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
