It was a great experience, everyone welcomed me so warmly and actually made me feel at home. The working hours are fair and Alex is a flexible and very communicative host. Everything went very well, and I can't wait to come back soon!

I had a really great time in faro Beach the hostel. I had some really nice evenings and with the volunteers and guest ! I definitely can recommend the hostel. There are some nice nature park around where you can hike or you can go by bike. The beach is 30 minutes by foot.

I had good days, but some days not. We were just three volunteers for the housekeeping, but just two worked together in the morning shift and the other in the night shift (but had to do the afternoon tasks too, because there weren't volunteers enough). The good part was the people that I met there, the other volunteers. Thanks Alex, Carlos and Tabata for this time together.

As my first volunteering experience it didn't meet my expectations. The hostel (being run by a single employee working 24/7 and volunteers) was not equipped to face the busiest months of the year. This meant that the workload was overwhelming and very tiring. We worked as actual non-paid workers rather than volunteers. Go at your own risk (and absolutely avoid the month of August).

Sorry but I cannot recommend this hostel to anybody. I wanted to have fun community experience as I have seen in many hostels before as a guest, but here it was total workworkwork, you only wanted the time go by during your shift and go out of the building as soon as possible. There was no way to relax in the hostel even on your free time. I was working in the reception at the worst possible time, everyday was 100% full, running to show the two floors of the hostel to every guest separately in the high heat. They put too much resposibility on volunteers. Never volunteering again…

If you are looking for having fun and feeling of volunteering/helping people, DON'T GO here! The given workload is super hard and you always have to run for somethings. Alex was a good guy but whole hostel, only one employee makes the things very hard. Therefore, the nerves were always tense. You will always look at the time and will be counting the minutes until the shift is over. The owner is so greedy and get benefits of worldpackers and its' soul by using people as slaves! If you are looking for a hard tasked job, stressfull and no feeling of volunteering, you can go there.

At time of writing, the hostel with 80 guest capacity has only one full-time employee, who is Alex the manager. The owner of the hostel is is super extremely greedy and wouldn't consider hiring more to help Alex, which makes his workload too heavy. Alex is a good manager, but things can get rough sometimes due to enormous stress. Instead of caring for employees, the owner went on a holiday and left Alex alone in charge. This action is completely inhumane as he worked relentlessly and this is basically modern day slavery. I wish the worst for the owners, and enjoy hell.
