Volunteer at Our Friendly Surf Hostel in Taghazout, Morocco!

Unfortunately I had a horrible experience at the hostel. There were bed bugs in the dorms, mold on the ceilings, and a rat in the kitchen. I let the host know and he did not take any of my concerns seriously. One day we ran out of clean sheets and the owner of the hostel told us to “shake out” the dirty ones and put them back on the beds. Others rate it highly because it's a fun place to party but sadly it is not a good place to live.

Well, I guess after hosting and sharing great times with so many volunteers over the past 5 years, it was only a matter of time before we had a different experience. It’s sad to see so much hate, especially after we treated you like a sister and always cared for you. We don’t agree with anything you said in this review. Wishing you all the best.

Taghazout is truly a fantastic place to volunteer! the hostel has great facilities, and a phenomenal rooftop. It's a super social hostel - I feel very lucky to have met so many amazing people! The work is simple and fair. Shout out Sue, who was the best manager we could ask for! Things for volunteers to note: you have to pay (a discounted rate) for surfboard rentals, no washing machine (but easy to hand wash at hostel), no meals/food supplied by hostel. Overall I would recommend! You will leave with great memories and super strong calves (the hills/stairs are killers) :))

Best volunteer i ever made, super chill & amazing people. the hostel has a soul and the guests seem to feel it. taghazout is a small village that has a lot of tourists but you can still connect to moroccan culture. the owners are super nice and the surf is amazing. very happy month 💖

I loved my 6 weeks volunteering at the hostel!!!! It was even better than I had expected, Mo and Adria are such great hosts and people! The work is very fair with plenty of free time to explore Taghazout, surf and take day trips!! The rooftop is definitely one of the best in the town to chill, meet amazing people and get a perfect view of the sunset!! Thanks for everything :)

Volunteering at the hostel is an experience I will never forget. I have made some lifelong friendships and so many special memories. It felt like a family at the hostel and working with the other volunteers was always so much fun. I loved exploring Taghazout and getting to know all the cool spots. The hosts Adri and Mo have made everyone a home away from home. The workload is very reasonable and easy. And you always have support and help! I highly recommend this experience in Morocco! You will not regret it. Thank you for everything the hostel ❤️

My 6 weeks at the hostel was nothing short of exceptional! The hostel itself has all the facilities to make for a comfortable stay! The terrace is the best in Taghazout and such a good place to chill and get to know the guests. Adri and Mo have created a place that feels like a home away from home. The workload is very reasonable and leaves enough time to explore the area. Everyone is here to help and you are always left feeling valued and appreciated. I loved every second volunteering at the hostel and would recommend to anyone! Thanks for welcoming me into your home !! Till next time !!

<3 I was lucky to get a spot very last minute (only bc the planned volunteer had to cancel), so I was there for 3 weeks instead of 5, I do recommend at least 5 though! the hostel is quite popular both by guests and for volunteering. It's owned by two owners and always accompanied by one fifth volunteer that's working as a manager and staying longer term (only 3 volunteers for you to share your room with though). To mention: the 5min to the hostel from the main street can be rough here and there (up stairs or uphill) not too bad though; no bedrooms have actual windows, just openings to the hallways

My time at the hostel was truly amazing! I felt at home right away and made beautiful connections with the other volunteers, guests and locals. The shifts are fair and leave you with plenty of time to go surfing or explore other parts of morocco. Thank you Mo and Adria for a great stay! Taghazout is such a special place and I'll be back for the surf season for sure :)

Taghazout has a special place in my heart now ❤️ the hostel and hosts were a great first introduction into volunteering. Mo and Adria were very welcoming and I met so many amazing people along the way. Although going in low season wasn't quite the full experience, it's just another excuse to go back again!

My time spent at the hostel was truely a priceless experience! The shifts were fair and left you with plenty of time to explore taghazout and other nearby places. The hostel has such a homely feel to it, I felt at home in a matter of hours, the team + guests definitely helped with that! Big thank you to Mo & Adria for allowing me to become apart of the hostel, looking forward to coming back in the high season!!
