This was my first time solo traveling and a first timer in the surf camp. I had high expectations going into the surf camp, as I've only heard amazing things about the camp. I was a little disappointed my first few days because of the cleanliness and organization of the camp. Despite all of that, Grace did an amazing job keeping the energy up and being very helpful. Chef Tomi made bomb food and never disappointed, and all of the excursions organized were very fun and immersive. Within the 3 weeks I spent here, I met friends for life and memories I will cherish forever.

The surf camp was an almost wonderful experience. The staff were kind, and the food was great and I couldn't have asked for a more amazing group of volunteers. If you could call us that, instead we were more like guests who did a chore to subsidise our stay. This meant that we had to pay extra for everything, including surf board rentals and lessons. Additionally, being rainy season, EVERYTHING went moldy. We had no access to a washer or dryer, so there was very little we could do to stop it. Overall dream sea was ok. But if you are a backpacker on a budget, it's not the place for you.

1. MOLD EVERYWHERE. Didn't have a problem the 2 months before arriving at dream sea but here it sprung up everywhere. Sunlight in the forest is hard to come by bc it's a forest, and to our surprise there was no access to a washer and dryer?!? Crazy we have to stay for a min. of 3 weeks as a volunteer and still had to pay someone to wash our clothes 2. Volenteering didn't mean it was cheap. Apart from the 330 usd upfront, we had to pay for: shuttles, surfboard rentals + lessons, activities, trips to other beaches ect. Came to surf and live cheaply, didn't surf or live cheaply.

As there were more volunteers than guests we were able to grow closer as a community and have fun and enlightining moments together. The work was so chill and easy. Absolutely LOVED the food there! The people truely made the experience complete. Even tho partying is a huge aspect you'll find people and moments outside of that as well. I adapted surprisingly fast to the wildlife there. They are charging you for a lot and Tamarindo itself is also a very expensive place. If you're outgoing and don't shy away from making a fool out of yourself this is the place for you!

The camp runs on volunteers (around 50). You will work less then said on Worldpackers and have more free time. It's very social, but also very party! Accommodation is very basic but comfortable. Other volunteers are around 18-25 years old. I had the best time because I met amazing people! Even tho you pay a little bit, it's definitely worth it if you want to stay in one place for a while and make great friendships!

Met nice people, but that had nothing to do with the place. People treated you like a number and did not care about you or your opinion. Made you pay for all the smallest things and would do anything to make money. The other volunteers were nice tho. Location etc. was nice except the rooms where bit dirty and airco was bad.

It was really nice place to stay and live. I got to know so many people and made new friends. I really enjoyed the surfing and the excursions to different beaches (even if it would have been a bit cooler if there were excursions to other places as well other than beaches). The weekly programm is mostly the same but they have nice offers what to do in the afternoon and evening as well. I think it's a nice place to feel comfortable and at home, to make new friends and also find people who will maybe join you in your further travelling.

The surf camp was a great first volunteering/Worldpackers/solo travel experience for me! I met so many people and formed some great friendships. It was a great little community to be a part of. I was not really expecting the party culture before arriving, but I found it pretty easy to avoid.
