Teach in a children’s home primary school
The experience
We are looking for volunteers ranging from Arts, music, agriculture, IT, Physical education, and english teachers to help in the school for a period of one month to a maximum of three months.
The school offers a conducive environment for our volunteers by providing a free accommodation and share the cost of food with the volunteer.We also offer weekend exploration of the island like mountain hikes, birds watching,rock art sites and many more.
What you offer

Child Care:
Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.
Arts:
Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.
Teaching Languages:
Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Description:
In order to help our project to sustain itself, we ask for a €180 monthly contribution. The food is included in this fee.

You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Program Details
We started in January 2012 in Kakimba village, Mfangano Island in lake Victoria, Kenya. The school was founded due to the increasing number of orphans on the Island. The school helps children within Mfangano Island which has a population of 26.000 people. Currently there are 96 children in the school from Kindergarten to grade 4. The pupil are from the age of 3 to 11.
The school has 7 classrooms and one office for the staff. St James school attempt is to support the children through their growth in education and the Creative Arts giving to them the opportunity to develop skills and expertise.
