Program Details
We enjoy fresh, wholesome food every day. Our meals are always sourced from high-quality ingredients, prioritising taste, health, and sustainability. That said, we do indulge in the occasional pizza on lazy days 😊
Joe, a vegetarian, is the primary cook in the house and prepares most of our evening meals. Andy eats some meat occasionally. You will share the main evening meal with us. Breakfast and lunch are self-serve, so you’re free to help yourself.
Andy is the primary host, with over 14 years of experience hosting through various organisations. Before confirming a stay, we usually chat and arrange a video call to ensure everyone feels comfortable and knows what to expect. You will have the opportunity to clear up any questions. The atmosphere is friendly, communal, safe, and welcoming.
Activities & Shift
We are located in Sheffield, a vibrant city in the North of England with excellent transport links to London and other major UK cities.
Our home is about a 30-minute walk from the city centre, in a lively and diverse neighbourhood filled with parks, students, and families. Like much of the UK, the weather here can be variable.
Sheffield sits on the edge of the stunning Peak District National Park, known for its moorland and rugged landscapes.
This could be a great opportunity for someone planning to visit the UK for cultural exchange, self-discovery, or personal growth. Whether you're already in the UK looking for a new host or seeking a change in your current situation, we welcome you. If you already speak English at an intermediate level and are hoping to improve, there will be plenty of opportunities to do so here.
We all share in keeping the space warm and welcoming, so you’ll help with everyday tasks like washing dishes, tidying up, and keeping things clean. Occasionally, I may also need a bit of light personal assistance due to a disability. This is always explained clearly beforehand when we chat, and we would only welcome people who understand and are happy with what to expect before they arrive here.
During working hours, we encourage you to stay proactive and involved in meaningful projects. If you want to discuss ideas, let's chat. There’s plenty of time to also relax and soak up the experience. We have a small gym area, sauna and plenty of areas to run, cycle and walk in surrounding areas.
Rules
Only rules are honesty, integrity and self-transparency 😊
Many wonderful hosts and organisations welcome volunteers to work for them, but we don’t require workers. Our home is better suited for those seeking a genuine cultural exchange.
