The experience

We’re a small backpackers hostel in sunny Port Macquarie, halfway between Sydney and Byron Bay. Expect sunrise surfs, coastal walks, pub nights with live music and fun hostel socials. We love volunteers who are social, love meeting travellers, take housekeeping seriously, and join our team with energy, helping keep the hostel spotless, welcoming, and full of good vibes for everyone.😎😎😎

What you offer

15 hours of help per week

Night Shift: Help with night shift tasks and create a relaxing environment for guests.

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

What you get

2 days off per week

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Surfboards: You can use our surfboards as much as you want.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Intermediate English

Between 20 and 35 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

In exchange, enjoy free accommodation in our staff area, plus Wi-Fi, laundry, bikes, surfboards, bodyboards, and full access to all our amenities — especially our awesome pool! You’ll also get discounted surf lessons. Please note, food is not included. Join us for a fun, social experience while helping out!

Activities & Shift

Your main shifts are 9:30 am–12:30 pm, focusing on keeping our hostel spotless! This includes cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and shared spaces to high standards, making guests feel at home. Occasionally, you’ll help with our lush garden, mainly weeding and tidying. Some afternoon folding shifts may pop up. We need volunteers who take pride in their work and enjoy keeping the hostel looking amazing!

Rules

We love a good time, but we’re not a party hostel. Our noise curfew starts at 11 pm to respect our neighbors. You’re welcome to hang out and party—just later night fun is best enjoyed down at the pub, by the river, or at one of the local spots.
We also take recycling seriously—helping us sort, reuse, and reduce is part of keeping our hostel green, clean, and awesome for everyone!
