Help with horses in a natural farm!

I really enjoyed my stay at the farm. I met incredible people from all over the world and the locals were just so kind and giving. I really felt at home. The work was harder than I expected especially because of all the walking that was needed to change the horses of fields, but it was so fulfilling. We had a little issue with our beds but otherwise everything was perfect. The horses were great too. I really recommend this place if you like to walk, meet new people, want to learn spanish, know how to ride horses and are open-minded. This experience will leave you speechless!

I worked for Alejandro, a friend of Rodrigo. He is very lovely, generous and experienced with horses. I was training his 8 horses for two weeks. I had my own room and bathroom. If you are willing to work and are a very good and experienced rider - this is a truly great place. If you are rather looking for a "chill place" to just have a good time with horses - you'd better look somewhere else! Alejandro has a lot of energy and showed me around in Quito and the riding clubs during my stay with him. I have had a very good time at his place and can recommend him to good riders by heart ❤️

Hola Eva,

For me it was not a good experience. The workers are really nice, but the host not so much. If you expect to ride different horses that are also actually trained well, this wouldn't be the place for you. Horses are very young, but very nice. The riding is only possible with a couple of them. It's also a lot of walking to and from the fields, which wasn't a problem but decide for yourself if this is something for you. You also buy and cook your own food, with exceptions of some products like milk, eggs, bread. The actual training with guidance is not a lot of times. I left earlier.

I had an amazing 6 weeks at the farm. The horses were really nice and gained a lot of riding experience. Rodrigo doesn't live on the farm but he visited us weekly and took us out for dinner and in the morning yoga and breakfast. He also practiced horsemanship and explained it to us what was really nice. Jose and Veronica are both nice and if you needed something they helped you. It was my first volunteer experience and it was definitely a good one! I recommend it. For questions don't hesitated to asks me!

My stay at the farm was absolutely amazing. I stayed 3 weeks but could've stayed longer! You get to ride and work with young horses and learn about natural horsemanship. Rodrigo was super welcoming of eager to teach us what he knows about horses. And you also have beautiful nature around the farm to explore. Definitely recommend!

The place is great, beautifully located in a nice valley on Ecuadorian highlands, a paradise for nature/mountain and horse lovers! A peaceful green oasis about 30 minutes by bus from Otavalo town with views of the surrounding volcanoes.💚🗻💚🐎 Typical life on a farm in the countryside: simple, slower and working with horses is very pleasant. Although for some it may require more effort depending on their individual physical condition. Food partly from the farm: fresh raw milk in abundance, you can ask for eggs, you can also find some lemon trees with lemons 😜

Kasia was a great volunteer, It was a pleasure to have her cooperation at the farm. She was not a horse expert but she learned a lot and hopefully as from now on she will love horses even more. Kasi, you are welcome to come back.

I had an incredible experience here. I felt connected to the land and to the other volunteers, and the location is beautiful. I wish I could have stayed much longer, but due to personal health issues I had to leave early. I recommend this to anyone wanting to improve their horsemanship and live slowly, intentionally, and vividly.

Such a good experience in the farm !! The place is incredible, in the middle of a green paradise in the mountains. The work consists mostly to take care of the horses : give food, move them in fields... and to help José and Rodrigo in the domestication task of young horses. A dream experience for all the nature and horses lovers !!

I was supposed to stay for a couple weeks, tho I left early cause I did not feel as comfortable as I thought. We had to work about 7- 7,5 hours a day and had to make lunch ourselves which was not as promised. The city is about 40 minutes away by bus, so there is nothing to do after work except go for a walk because the last bus is at 5pm. There where about 3 other people that I worked with, during my stay I just recognized, that I like socializing with people which was not possible. If you really like being on your own, connecting with nature and working hard it is worth a try.

Pambasinchi is not for everybody, we strongly suggest that applicants read the conditions and realize that Pambasinchi is not the Ritz hotel. It's not true that the working requirement is for 7 hours a day, this volunteer hardly worked 2 hours per day with a bad attitude. We are quite flexible regarding the amount of work requesting a minimum of 5 hours a day. Otavalo is 17 minutes away and a taxi cab will cost only US$ 8. Of course, it is people's choice to socialize or not with persons that do not pertain to the countryside and its values. Finally, regarding food, we are not willing to satisfy everybody with their unique food requirements. Certainly, we do not offer lobster or caviar. Food is the responsibility of each volunteer, we do provide basic food fruit bread, and eggs for breakfast. Until now, for about ten years we received around 80 volunteers. Most of the volunteers were happy to share our experience with nature and horses. That kind of people with real values, and respect for the countryside and horses will be always welcome.
