Live in a rural Mexican costal community and work with youth!
The experience
Playa Viva is a sustainable boutique hotel whose mission is to regenerate both the ecosystem and the communities of which we are a part. To do this, we have a team of local staff and foreign/local volunteers who work in the community of Juluchuca and other nearby villages in areas of social and environmental impact. Much of the work we do is with kids -- teaching them to be the next generation of environmentally and socially conscious humans.

Program Details
We accept people from all over the world to lead activities with children, teens and adults in our communities. We usually ask volunteers to commit to at least 2 months and work about 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. In exchange for your service, you will get both housing and food. We provide shared accomodation in a house in Juluchuca. Food is organized and provided for you either from Playa Viva hotel or from a food basket or local people in town who cook. We expect volunteers to have a working level of Spanish and English. This is a unique opportunity to live in a rural village and really become part of the community. For that reason, we look for people who are passionate about cultural exchange, social change, and who generally like kids and like being with people.
Activities & Shift
Volunteers will work with Colleen, the Social and Environmental Impact Manager, to come up with a schedule based on the volunteer's interests and skills. Most volunteers spend 2-3 days per week in the schools and 3-4 evenings per week doing activities (sports, arts, yoga, etc.)
