The experience

Simoonga Thandizani Trust School is a nonprofit educational institution in Zambia,
dedicated to providing free education and meals to children aged 3 to 14.

Help more than 350 kids teaching, environment care, health and nutrition, sports, computer and internet, art, drama... S

We are keen on having volunteers with a variety of skills and experiences given that it is through people like you that we keep prospering through help.


What you offer

32 hours of help per week

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 10 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers and Donation to project

Description: - Teacher and Staff Allowances: The 29 local volunteers, including teachers, cooks, and maintenance staff. - The Feeding Program: The school provides two meals a day—porridge for breakfast and a main meal for lunch. For many students, this is the only food they receive daily. - School Materials: Funds are also allocated to buying books, pencils, and essential medical supplies.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Program Details

Simoonga Thandizani Trust School is a nonprofit educational institution in Zambia, dedicated to providing free education and meals to over 350 students and 29 committed local volunteers. From us, you can expect full consideration with your needs and a loving and comfortable stay. Around 90 volunteers have come across Thandizani since 2015, allowing us to learn from each on how to make your experience 1/1.


Activities & Shift

All volunteer shifts starts from 7:30am to 4pm from Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday are off days. You can invest your free time as you will: Visiting the Victoria falls, the city of Livingstone, the zambezi river with it´s wild life...

Consider bringing alongside other essentials:
- Filtering water bottle
- Camera
- Hangers
- Mosquito repellent


Rules

Volunteers are free to move as they will and to unite with the local communities. However, for their security the school authority need to be advised of the volunteers whereabouts. In some cases, we can cover the transport and advice on what are the best places to visit.
