Truly enjoyed my time at the guest house! The work is only 2 hours a day. Toshi the host is very understanding and flexible. Walking distance to the beach and can go surfing with provided boards every day. I would recommend bringing a wetsuit if you are surfing in autumn/winter months! Easy biking to get to grocery stores. Met so many people that I would now call friends :) I recommend this experience to anyone looking for a chill beach town vibe and those looking to improve their surfing.

I had a really good experience at the guesthouse in miyazaki, the town was very cozy and you live so close to the beach. The workload is very reasonable, straightforward and easy. you can use surfboards for free!

I'm still here because I'm having a great time in Aoshima! I extended my stay as the work is very fair, easy to learn and the staff and team are very kind and generous. Thank you to Toshi, Foo and everyone else that made (and makes) this time so special! If you get the chance go to Aoshima it's beautiful and the beach is 3 mins walk away

I had a great time in Aoshima for the past month enjoying the slow life. The work was easy and straight forward, only taking 1-2 hours, with some additional gardening tasks. Would recommend trying the onsens in the area, as they're relatively cheap and fun to go to.

This was my first Worldpackers experience, and it was awesome! I only worked 2 hours a day and had 2 days off each week. Toshi kept to the schedule, which I appreciated, though I did end up doing a few tasks that weren't in the original description—not a big deal at all! The best part was getting to borrow surfboards anytime I wanted, which was exactly what I was looking for. I'd totally recommend this spot to anyone who loves surfing and wants to chill by the coast.

My four weeks volunteering at the guest house went by so fast, I left wishing I could stay longer! Everything was just like they said it would be. Most days, you only volunteer for about 2 hours, and you can even have a few days off in a row. If you're cooking, I'd totally recommend biking to the farmers market (20 min away) or the Cosmos supermarket (just 15 min by bike). Overall: I had such a wonderful time and I 100% recommend it!

If you're wondering whether you should come here, the answer is YES! This hostel is perfectly located in a small town, surrounded by friendly locals and just steps from a beautiful beach. It's got everything you need, with easy access to supermarkets, restaurants, and public transport. The host is kind and supportive, creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home. The hostel offers all the essentials and the work was super easy (2 hours per workday) The best part of my stay was the other volunteers, who made my time an experience I will never forget. Thank you :)

I had a great time volunteering in Aoshima! The working hours were really easy and flexible, leaving me plenty of time to explore and relax. The beach was just a short walk away so you can go for a swim or surf in your free time! There's also a lot of cafes and restaurants where I enjoyed delicious local dishes. Thank you Toshi and Fuu for having me!

Lovely time volunteering in Aoshima. The hosts (Toshi and Foo) are very easy-going, friendly, and helpful. The work itself is straightforward and goes by quick (about 2 hours or so per day). During my time in Aoshima I loved riding my bike along the beach to the gym, swimming and surfing in the ocean, exploring local festivals, watching surf films & movies with the other volunteers, + more. It's a little bit of a walk down the beach to get to where the waves are bigger/better. But that's really fine. I recommend this experience!!

Volunteering in Aoshima was absolutely amazing! The work hours were super chill so everyday there was a lot of free time to relax, surf and hang out with other volunteers. The place itself is amazing: there are a lot of cute cafes and restaurants with great food. The beach is only 2 minutes away so it's possible to go swimming and surfing any time. Toshi is also a great host who is always ready to help. Highly recommend this place!
