Had a great time at the farm Feather the farm. Cheri and her husband Viet are incredibly generous! I met such lovely people during my stay (Bob, the Ole Timers, even the chiropractor and the ferrier). There are many things to do at the ranch, but usually Cheri makes a short list of chores to do everyday. She needs invested people, who take initiative so don't hesitate to ask her what else you can do. Most of the time, the main chores are done by noon so you have all afternoon (until night feed) to rest, spend time with horses or help with additional tasks if you feel like it.

It was an unforgettable and truly amazing experience! Cheri is very welcoming and kind, and explains everything with patience until you get the hang of the routine. I learned a lot about horses and met interesting people from different countries, which was a lot of fun! I always felt safe because Cheri is really dedicated the girls safety and well-being, and communication is really valued to keep interactions respectful and friendly. I'm very grateful for this experience!

During my brief stay at the ranch, I absorbed a wealth of knowledge about the farm care. Cheri, with her extensive expertise, willingly addressed all inquiries about the animals. However, sometimes Cheri's approach could be rude, particularly when tasks didn't meet her expectations. Perhaps a bit more empathy could be extended, considering many volunteers, are not native english speakers nor do we have experience with animals. Mistakes are part of the learning process, and while we're there without pay, our willingness to help should be valued, especially considering our efforts as foreigners.

For my first world packers experience, this was everything i could've ask for and more. cheri and viet welcomed me into their home and truly care about your health and wellness there. I came in knowing nothing about working with horses, and i left having a new perspective on working with these wonderful beings. i never once felt overwhelmed with the workload. it was an incredible experience that i will never forget and hope to return again ❤️
