The experience
We are looking for volunteers in Hoima and Wakiso districts Uganda. We would like to have volunteers that are patient, flexible, friendly, and outgoing. Your work depends on your skills and back ground since each volunteer has different background, interests, and skills. The organization is currently implementing projects are about economic empowerment of children, youth and women, sustainable farming, health including HIV/AIDS prevention.
What you offer
25 hours of help per week
Painting & Decorating:
Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.
Building & Repairing:
Help with a wide range of repairs or building.
Gardening:
Help grow plants and cultivate gardens
What you get
2 days off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.
Team Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Lunch:
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
Dinner:
You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
Bikes at your disposal:
You can use our bikes any time you want.
Pick Up:
We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Volunteer Application process
You contact Eco-Agric Uganda through your Work Away site, then send us your email address through which we send you these FAQs. After this, we have a skype with you to know more about you and explain anything you need to know. You will then get a commitment letter from the organization, sign it and send it back, then you are ready to come
What visa should I take volunteer with you in Uganda?
You are legally required to have a working visa to volunteer in Uganda. Eco-Agric Uganda will not take responsibility. However, none of our volunteers have ever used one; the regulation is loose. Volunteers either get a Ugandan tourist visa ($50, valid for 90 days) or an East African tourist visa which works in Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda ($100, valid for 90 days in total).

Activities & Shift
During your Volunteer ship, you will be involved in the following activities.
The Agro-forestry project, briquette making or contract farming project or hypertension prevention treatment and control any project that you will want to be involved in.
Sustainable agriculture farming methods. You will help the organization to set up standard agriculture demonstration sites at the Hoima office.
You will promote and educate rural poor community members (women and youth groups in the field) about permaculture, organic farming and agro-forestry.
Construction: You will take part in the different Eco-Friendly construction projects that the organization has in Hoima
You will support the organization to work with women and children to improve their living conditions

Rules
Accommodation and meals
The organization will provide accommodation and three meals a day for the volunteer. The three meals will be bread and black tea for breakfast, posho and beans for lunch and Supper. Lunch is served at the office. You are required to come with some snacks that you can eat in case its lunch time and you are not at office. However, lunch will still be kept for you.
The volunteers' residence is located near the Hoima and Kibaale offices. It is currently composed of four eco-houses, two with individual rooms and two shared rooms. There is electricity in Hoima and solar in Kibaale and you will have access to a basic kitchen. Mosquito nets are provided. We have had a number of vegetarian and vegan volunteers, and can easily adapt to their diet.
