My experience at the hostel was amazing, a cozy and well-located hostel. The work was simple and easy: cleaning, laundry, and reception. Nijmegen is a very pleasant and welcoming city, close to Amsterdam, Brussels, and Luxembourg, which I visited on my days off. Joep was very attentive and flexible regarding tasks and days off. "el jefe" Erick, is always present and concerned about the well-being of the volunteers. He is a big-hearted brother 💚 and father of Emiliano, the coolest baby in the Netherlands 🤘I hope to see you soon hermanos, recommend it to everyone.

My experience in the hostel was truly special, beyond the place itself, located right in the heart of Nijmegen, what really makes it unique is the atmosphere. From day one, I was welcomed with trust and freedom, and that gave me a sense or peace I genuinely needed. Among guest, fellow volunteers, and the manager, i found a human connection that helped me improve my English, share stories, and feel at home wile being far form home. The task are clear and fair, cleaning, night shift, keeping things tidy, but what you take away goes far beyond that the hostel was a real source of calm for me.

I truly loved my time at the hostel. The team I worked with was amazing, the city of Nijmegen is absolutely beautiful, and the host was thoughtful and considerate. Work hours are respected and they always make an effort to check if the weekly schedule works well with your plans. I recommend it!

I had a fantastic time at the hostel, it truly felt like my home while I was there and wish I could have stayed longer. The facilities are all clean and comfortable. The work and the hours are all very fair and the owner, Joep, is very reasonable, if you ever have any issues or concerns simply talk to him and he will work to fix them. I made good friends with all of the people volunteering with me, but especially Lucas and Lay. You guys are the best!

The tasks were generally simple and easy to follow, with a flexible schedule that left plenty of time for trips and activities. The provided food was sufficient, and the weekly staff dinner was a nice bonus. The staff and volunteers were welcoming and supportive. Cons: The living quarters were a bit cramped, and during my stay, it didn't quite have the typical backpacker hostel atmosphere.

Great experience and nice place!! The team is fabulous and willing to help you in whatever. Shifts and work hours are always respected. If you want to connect with people around the world, to share part of your time there and learn some languages it's the perfect place.

I couldn't have chosen a better place to do my first volunteering. the hostel was a cozy and warm shelter during the winter, and Nijmegen truly surprised me (It's a really cool city). Eric and Joep are incredibly welcoming and generous, and the other volunteers were just lovely. The breakfast is very abundant, the work is easy and enjoyable, and the hostel is spotless. Thanks for everything :)

It was a great experience where I was able to meet people from all over the world, connect with locals and get to know a very nice city in Netherlands . Regarding the hostel they have fulfilled everything promised, the facilities are very comfortable, the hours have always been met and the tasks were as previously agreed, everything went as expected and even better! Thank you Hostel Barbarrosa for everything! I hope to come back!

The experience at this hostel was great. I felt very comfortable, and our manager, Erick, was extremely kind and attentive. I was fortunate to meet colleagues who became lifelong friends. We received plenty of food to prepare breakfast, the kitchen is well-equipped, and the living room was where we spent most of our time. The room is quite small, and I don't think it accommodates the number of volunteers well; we felt very cramped.

I had a great time in the hostel! The bedroom is nice, good showers, the breakfast is very good and abundant, they try really hard to make everyone happy. I worked in the cleaning/housekeeping and reception shifts. Be aware that in here you can party very hard and have loads of fun, but you also have to work hard. The cleaning shift is not always pleasant, but it is worth it considering the environment and the people you get to enjoy here. Definetly in my top 5 volunteer experiences. Erick was a plus - thank you so much for everything bro, you are AWESOME. I am already missing the hostel 💙
