The time I spent at the guest house was incredible! I was able to experience Irish culture and learn more about it. There are many beautiful places to visit with incredible views. John is friendly and communicative. The accommodations are good and working hours are respected. I really enjoyed it and I highly recommend this volunteering!

I had a really great time during my stay. John is friendly, welcoming and respectful who takes care of the volunteers and makes you feel at home. Tasks and work hours are respected and fair. The place is fascinating and I enjoyed being surrounded by these incredible landscapes. Also grateful for all I learned about the country and the nice local people I met. I would 100% recommend this experience!!! :)

Volunteering at the BnB was an amazing experience! Being surrounded by the most beautiful landscapes and nature. The work is straightforward and fair, I was a great balance between contributing and enjoying the surroundings. John is a great cook, he was respectful towards our preferences and eating preferences. The minor issue for me was the occasional lack of organization and cleanliness in the common areas (kitchen and dining room). However, the volunteer's room was comfortable, private, and cozy! Overall, it's been a memorable and rewarding experience, that I'll recommend!!

I didn't like volunteering. The volunteers don't have their own bathroom, we have to shower in John's room, he has built a shower there. The kitchen is dirty and messy, he leaves his clothes lying on the floor for days, I recommend that he be more organized and clean. All old, the facilities for volunteers should be improved. Puts restrictions on food. One day he lost his temper and started shout at me, I felt scared and uncomfortable, I suggest he improve his behavior. He constantly controlled where we went, I advise giving more freedom to the volunters. I do not recommend this place really

The amount of lies that Patricia has told in her review is shocking.
It was her first time volunteering and I knew after the very first few days that it was not for her. She wasn't happy about anything, her private room, the weather, my accent, mealtimes, the remoteness of Castlehouse ( nowhere to party) and she firmly believed that there were "Spirts" all over my house and that she was meeting these spirits while she was supposed to be cleaning guest rooms. I have an antique clock that strikes on the hour and half hour and this was another bone of contention.
Shower facilities are private and clean at all times and guest rooms are used when available.
She was following an intermittent diet and was only eating two meals a day, this was her choice not mine and she actually said to myself and another volunteer that she was eating more in my house than she was at home.
Patricia had great difficulty understanding that cleaning the kitchen was part of her volunteering duties.
She was there at the same time as another volunteer that spoke her language and they continually spoke it in my presence despite being asked to speak the one language that everybody knew. I felt that she was trying to cause discontent amongst the other volunteers.
I advice all volunteers on what attractions they should visit locally and I did go out of my way to bring her to a couple of places but I do not control people.
I totally honoured my commitments to her as per my profile and I showed her respect at all times.
She had agreed to stay for the whole month of August but she left on the 17th citing a family emergency back home, she incorrectly informed Worldpackers that she left on the 25th. She left me at the very height of the season with minimal notice.
Overall it was a very challenging experience for me and certainly not what I want from having volunteers in my home.

It wasn't my best experience. The place is a 1:20 walk to the nearest bus stop and there are no taxis. The bathroom for volunteers doesn't have a shower so we have to shower in their room. The place and tasks are explained by other volunteers which creates confusion. On one occasion he got angry because I wasn't ironing when I didn't know I was supposed to, he expressed his displeasure through rudeness and shouting. I felt very uncomfortable with the behavior of that person at that time, and on other occasions. I suggest that communication be more aligned with respect and good manners.

Thought there were few communication problems at times, John respected the agreement to the t, the workload is fair aaand he's a really good cook (best curry I've ever had) Shoutout to Evelyne, his sister who was super sweet! As for the area, it's simply incredible, the scenery is breathtaking and there's always a place to explore and a mountain to climb! I went off season so it wasn't as busy as it is in the summer which made my experience even more epic and solitary. It's a bit isolating but you can reach the nearest town quite easily since John puts a bike at disposal if you ask him.

I had an excellent experience at the guest house B+B. John was a great host, friendly, respectful, and cooked the best dinners! Activities were super easy as it's a small B&B. Although is located in a relatively remote area, I visited a few interesting places. If you're looking for something calm and relaxing (as I was!), that's the place. If you want parties and sightseeing all the time, read the room lol it's the Irish countryside! :) Anyway, I am very grateful to John, and also to Evelyn, I will have fond memories of them, the horses, and sweet Ruby <3

If you are wondering whether to apply for this volunteering, the answer is a big YES. The B&B has 5 rooms so the cleaning duties are very simple. The shifts are in the morning so you have the afternoons to explore the area or take the opportunity to unplug and relax surrounded by nature. To get there you have to take a bus Dub-Galway and Gal-Letterfrack (30€). John is a very kind man, with great culinary talents, very respectful and polite. Jonh: Thank you so much for making me feel part of the family, I hope that fate will cross our path again! It will be hard to beat this volunteer :)

It was my first experience and it exceeded my expectations. The time goes by very quickly. From the first moment you feel welcomed by John and the other volunteers. The tasks are easy and not heavy to do. The food is delicious and the beach is super close and beautiful. I would definitely recommend it.
