The experience

Hi Potential volunteer Really in need of some last minute help from 27/11 until 13/12. I heartbreakingly lost my partner earlier this year in March the non profit project we created and gave our life's to for the last 20 years needs some support urgently. You will be involved in helping with the daily care of 34 ponies ( watering, mucking out and feeding ) and also 14 rescue cats , 4 rescue dogs , an old eccentric goat and some chickens.


What you offer

24 hours of help per week

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.


What you get

2 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.


Requirements

Intermediate English or Beginner Greek

Between 19 and 46 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

Help a registered non profit project conserve and protect a critically endangered breed of pony the Skyrian Horse. We will send you on our very detailed volunteer farm description which gives a lot of information about both the volunteer tasks and Island and a volunteer application form.


Activities & Shift

In Spring ,winter and Autumn we operate a split shift 3 hours in the morning......Free time ...Then 1 hour work in the afternoon.

In the summer you either work a morning shift or afternoon shift an the other half of the day is free time..

Helping sweeping yards and keeping farm tidy and clean, cleaning and filling up waters buckets and troughs, pooh pick pony fields, and daily care and support of well being of ponies and other animals here.

Time to explore the island everyday and watch the stars at night, to walk or hitch around and explore the stark at times yet beautiful landscape of Skyros island. beaches, countryside, pine forests, mountains, etc
