I think people interested in volunteering here may see the 100+ pictures and high reviews and think this is more organized than it is. You will not be given a clear lesson plan or training. For most classes you will not have a Vietnamese assistant to help you teach and control the kids. Sometimes I didn't have transport to classes. For the most part, you won't be able to go into Hanoi city during the week, as it takes an hour to get there. The rooms and bathrooms are not cleaned for you. I was not comfortable in the house, and the teaching was overwhelming. Other volunteers felt the same.

Mr. Dung and his family were very friendly and welcoming, the dorms are simple but spacious, the beds comfy, the food tasty and the fellow volunteers become friends quite fast. The NGO is in a restructuring phase right now (soon all is settled) and it can be a bit chaotic and unorganized from time to time, but if you are flexible, spontaneous and open for new experiences, then this is a place for you! Anyway the whole idea of Worldpackers is to make new experiences, so off you go and join the community and support their ambitious cause to teach English to the local kids there!

I only spent 12 days with Mr Dung and I recommend staying for at least a month . I don't recommend it for a short period of time because after all, like any other job it takes a week or two before you get used to it and get into the routine. Mr Dung is a very good host, always happy, easy going and willing to help us getting from places to places. After travelling for a while it's nice to settle in a house, having traditional homemade meals and living the local life. In short, the experience will be as great as you make it and you will get as much as you give.

The best experience I have had in my life, staying with them was really great, they are a really nice family that will treat you like one of them, always helping you and seeing that you are comfortable and good, spending time with the childs and sharing with them was really amazing. I had a good time sharing with people from around the world that were also there for the volunteer part, it felt like a nice big multicultural family. The teaching part was also amazing experience, the kids really appreciate your time there. Thanks for everything Mr Dung and I wish you the best!!

Dung has a beautiful house and family about 30 minutes from Hanoi's Old Quarter. Together with his wife and two children they are a nice family to stay. I applied to work at a center with disabled children which needed to be combined with teaching English during the weekend and some week days. It was a great experience to work with the disabled children and to get to know their specific needs and help where possible.

I am loving to be here with the family and the volunteers. To get to know the community and help to teach english to the kids is great. The only problem so far is that i came to work with disabled kids and have been teaching only. It has been good and challenging but it wasn't what we agreed. If you like to teach this is a great place! Still 2 more weeks to go so hope i will go to the disabled kids centre. ;)

The host might be the funniest vietnamese ever! I had a great time there, all the people were super nice and it was all very natural. I highly recommend you to go there and enjoy meeting the awesome volunteers that stay there often. Also, I'm a vegetarian and I was able to eat everytime with everyone since there was always veggie stuff for me to eat. I learned how to do spring rolls with them and it was pretty cool. I will most surely miss the community, especially Bin and baby. If you have a chance, just do it!
