I appreciate Unkas' hosting. He arranged shifts for my meetings, considered my preferences to accommodate, and paid a generous amount. Tasks are easy and mostly I was finishing them early. If you are a digital nomad, I would say that this project is definitely for you. The hostel has great internet connection, as well as an environment for working. I really enjoyed my time in Sarajevo. And special thanks to my colleague Edin, he was very polite and answered all my questions, although sometimes I annoyed him.

My time at the hostel was quite mixed. There were enjoyable moments, the manager is kind and truly does her best. Their system is very disorganised and there were several incidences of confusion while I was there. The owner does not follow the rules of the system either. He has poor communication skills and told me off for things the manager asked me to do despite me trying to tell him I was doing what I was told. This made me extremely uncomfortable as I was worried I would upset him without knowing. I felt the environment was not suitable for volunteers despite the manager's best efforts.

Dear Gemma,
I'm sorry that you left with such an impression about us. I note that you are the only one who thinks that way about me. It is true that the communication between me and Nejre, the self-proclaimed manager, was bad, and that was due to excessive alcohol consumption and doing a lot of things without consulting. This led to misunderstandings, especially since you decided to listen to someone who, fortunately, no longer works for me.
I wish you all the best.

The hostel is a fun, quirky hostel that brings interesting travellers from all corners of the world together. Unkas runs his hostel with passion and has always been fair and easy to work with. What you're given as a volunteer during this experience is well worth the amount of hours and effort you're expected to put in. The facilities are excellent - especially the garden for socialising - and guests often comment on how nice the 'vibe' and atmosphere of the place is. Thanks again Unkas as well as all the amazing staff and fellow volunteers that make the hostel as great as it is. I'll be back!

It took me a few days to get into the groove and feel like I fit in, but once I did, I had a really great time! Unkas is very passionate about this hostel and will push you to do your best, but is very fair and kind once he knows he can count on you. I only wish I knew beforehand that I would sometimes have to sleep at an apartment that's a 10 min walk away from the hostel, which was a little inconvenient. Keep that in mind. Other than that, I had a really great time here! Very social environment and plenty of free time to socialize and explore the city.

Such an incredible experience volunteering at the hostel! Unkas is so kind and generous. The work is straightforward, mainly consisting of checking people in, preparing beds and bar work at night. Unkas is very fair and if you put in the work for him and keep yourself busy during your allocated shift time, you will have plenty of time to explore Sarajevo or take days trips near by on your time off. The hostel is so much fun and very social so was able to make so many friends during my 2 week stay!

I had a great experience at the hostel overall, it's important to note that both me and Unkas are aware that not everything went perfectly all the way. I agreed on staying one extra week to help out and I wouldn't have done it if I had bad things to say about this place. Tasks are fair and easy. Sleeping arrangements can be a little off sometimes. Good communication is a must for me, and I struggled sometimes with this matter. If you're tolerant and openminded you will easily find your way around. Sarajevo is a wonderful city and the hostel has the perfect location.

Overall my stay at the hostel was a really good experience. The hostel is really social making it easy to meet other travellers. All of the staff were really nice and helpful, and the other volunteers were great. Sarajevo is a beautiful city with plenty of things to do. It would have been good to know beforehand that I would be staying at an apartment 10 mins away from the hostel with no wifi but it did end up being nice to have lots of space and my own room. Unkas, the owner was overall really helpful and cares a lot about his hostel but at times could be condescending in the way he spoke.

My time at the hostel did not go as expected but A few people from the staff, Jure and Adna helped me through my short stay at the hostel and were very kind. I saw the host interact very well with guests. Nevertheless, I would not recommend this place to anyone who'd like to volunteer. Hours are not respected, the host will sometimes relocates guest and volunteers to share an apartment he says he owns a 10 min walk away uphill, and breakfast isn't included unless asked for then he will give money, not food. Had to ask for WP insurance after he made me feel uncomfortable and yelled at me.

It was a mostly enjoyable experience. The host was quite short and a little rude at times. It was fun to interact with the employees, other volunteers and guests. The hours where more than the listed amount, and the accommodation was interesting, as we didn't have a set bed so regularly had to move round and multiple times stay off site.
