The experience
Hallo!! We are Carmen and Jorge, a 27-year-old couple living with a lovely dog in a quiet, nature-surrounded environment. I (Carmen) am looking for help with learning German, as I would love to improve my language skills with a native German speaker 🗣️📓.
I am looking for a friendly volunteer with whom we can build a nice connection and share daily life — while helping me practice and learn German with classes and homework 😊.
What you offer
18 hours of help per week
Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.
What you get
2 days off per week
Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.
Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!
Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!
Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.
Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.
Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.
Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely
Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely
Requirements
Intermediate Spanish or Intermediate English
Between 21 and 35 years old
Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)
Be from outside Spain

Program Details
I have been studying German for two years on my own and through free courses offered by the Madrid City Council. However, these courses are usually taught by Spanish teachers, and I would really like to experience learning the language directly from a native speaker.
We are looking for a volunteer, preferably with experience in education or German linguistics, although we are also open to considering candidates without prior experience. If your profile has no reviews, we only accept female volunteers. If you have reviews from previous volunteering experiences and you are male, you are also very welcome.
In return, we offer a private room with a private bathroom (we may need enter your bathroom to use the washing machine), all three daily meals included, and the chance to spend time with us and enjoy a pleasant shared experience. If you stay with us for more than one week, we can also organize a trip to a nearby city or a visit to central Madrid to explore it together.
We will pick you up at the airport ✈️ or train station and drop you off there for your return trip (as long as our schedules are compatible).
You can communicate with us in English, Spanish or Italian 🗣️
NOTE: We are frequently travelling, so be patience if we do not answer inmediately or our availability is not updated. Sorry for this!! We try yo do our best.
NOTE 2: We live on the outskirts, so transportation is limited. If you want to go to the center of Madrid, there is a bus next to our house that takes you to Guadalajara (1 hour), and in Guadalajara you have to take another bus to Madrid (another hour). But we can also arrange to drive you to the train station in Alcalá de Henares; however, keep in mind that we have very busy lives and we only have one car, and Jorge needs it for work.
Activities & Shift
The main tasks will include:
- Teaching German classes for 2 hours a day, Monday to Friday in the afternoon (from 4:00 p.m. onwards; the schedule may vary, but you will always know the class time the day before).
- Preparing exercises and homework for independent practice.
- Correcting and reviewing those exercises.
In total, including classes, lesson preparation, and corrections, the volunteer commitment will be 18 hours per week. Weekends are free. However, there is flexibility to change days off if needed, as long as the total of 18 volunteering hours per week is respected.
This volunteer work is compatible with teleworking.
