The experience

Hi there! We're a seaside hostel located in Strandhill, Co. Sligo, along the Wild Atlantic Way. We reopened under new management last year and had an amazing summer season with a great team! As we're heading into busier months, we're looking to expand our current team and appreciate your interest in checking out our listing.

We run a local surf school (Strandhill has a major surf scene!), so we tend to host many groups who are booked in to surf!

What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Administration: Help with booking systems and payments.

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Pub Crawls: Be a part of our pub crawls at local bars!

Surfboards: You can use our surfboards as much as you want.

Surf lessons: Take free surf classes at the local beaches.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Requirements

Intermediate English

Between 20 and 40 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

What's not included

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa

Program Details

We offer accommodation on-site at the hostel and lodge, as well as food (you have access to a fully equipped kitchen for cooking, and it's great to see volunteers sharing meals together). Rooms are private and include WIFI, bathroom facilities are shared amongst staff but don't fear, this works out just grand!

Ideally, we would be looking for those interested in helping out with housekeeping and general maintenance (e.g., grass cutting, light paint jobs...). As we are a hostel, interacting with guests and handling check ins/outs would also be involved - but don't worry, we will provide plenty of training for this if you choose to participate! We're also looking out for somebody who might be interested in night porting.
