🌱 Community Cocoa Planting & Family Empowerment Program 🍫

The experience

This project is at its starting stage, focused on planting cocoa directly from seeds during the rainy season🌧️.
The goal is to create job opportunities for vulnerable families, help them gain hands-on cocoa farming experience, and teach children practical farming skills so they grow into useful and responsible members of society.

Any income earned from this cocoa cash crop is not for personal profit but reinvested for children's basic needs.

What you offer

4 hours of help per day

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 30 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers and Materials for volunteer activities

Description: The $30/day supports volunteers’ learning and participation 🌱. It covers daily meals 🍲, clean water and sanitation 🚰, farm tools and cocoa seeds, safety materials, and guided training in cocoa planting 👨‍🌾. It also helps ensure a safe, well-supervised environment for children involved in learning basic farming skills 🧒❤️, making the project organized, responsible, and meaningful 🤝.

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

HOW The PROGRAM WORKS;

Volunteers and families work together to establish the cocoa farm, guided by daily mentorship. Families gain practical farming skills, children learn safe, supervised techniques, and the farm is maintained collaboratively. The project emphasizes teamwork, responsibility, and sustainability, while income directly supports children’s education and care, allowing volunteers to see their impact in action.

Activities & Shift

🌰 Direct sowing of cocoa seeds: Plant seeds in prepared rows, ensuring proper spacing and monitoring germination.

🌿 Land preparation and farm maintenance: Clear land, prepare soil, mulch, water, and remove weeds.

👨‍👩‍👧 Guiding and mentoring families: Teach vulnerable families practical cocoa farming techniques and encourage teamwork.

🧒 Teaching children farming skills: Supervise children safely as they learn basic planting and farm care.

🚰 Maintaining hygiene and safety: Ensure clean water, safe working spaces, and a secure environment for children and families.

🌍 Sustainability and community support: Promote long-term farming practices and community self-reliance.
